The boys made their first televised appearance in 1992 on a talent show. However, it didn’t go very well. They got the lowest rating from the jury, but that didn’t matter. On July 11, PSY and YG started teasing PSY’s new music video ‘Gangnam Style’ and the full video was released on July 15. The video has more than 3.5 billion views on YouTube. He was immediately brought to Konkuk University Hospital in a state of cardiac arrest and received CPR but there was nothing the hospital could do, he was pronounced dead at 6.27pm at the age of 27. Jonghyun's older sister had rang emergency services just 2 hours before his death, after he sent her text messages saying suicidal things such as “last goodbye” and “say I did well.” His official cause of death was suicide by carbon minoxide poisining.
On September 1 2009, Choi Jin-ri (known professionally as Sulli) debuted in the girl-group f(x). However in 2014 it was announced that Sulli would be leaving the group. During her career, Sulli received malicious comments online and she was severely depressed. On October 14 2019, news was leaked that Sulli was found hanging from the second floor of her home by her manager. The manager reportedly visited the house after he was unable to reach Sulli, after talking to her the night before. After performing an autopsy, police said that there was no signs of death due to external force, so confirmed as a suicide that occured on the night of October 13 or morning of October 14. She was 25.
A month after Sulli’s death, on November 24 2019, Sulli’s best friend Goo Hara of girl-group KARA was found dead in her home by her housekeeper. Police found a suicide note and concluded that there was no foul play, as she was seen on CCTV footage arriving home at 12.40am with no visitors, only the housekeeper who found her. Hara had attempted suicide on May 26 2019, after she was assaulted by her ex-partner, who later claimed that she assualted him. She was 28

HyunA first debuted in 2007 as a member of girl group Wonder Girls, however she left a year later due to health issues. That year, she joined Cube Entertainment and joined 4Minute. HyunA's squeaky-clean image was wiped clean after she released her debut solo track 'Change.' 10 days after the music video was released, it received at 19+ rating by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family for being inappropriate to minors, due to HyunA's dancing in the video. Cube Entertainment then said that the video would be re-edited, but the edited version received a 15+ rating. HyunA's sex-focused branding continued with her 2104 music video for 'Red.' The MV features a shirtless HyunA holding a monkey, models in bikinis and budgy smugglers with animal masks and HyunA lying on the floor wearing a sweater and panties. In 2016, 4Minute made the decision to disband and HyunA was the only member who decided to renew her contract with Cube Entertainment. In August 2018, photos were released of HyunA with E'Dawn from Pentagon, who is also managed by Cube Entertainment. Cube later denied dating rumors. However, that day in an interview, she and E'Dawn confirmed that they had been dating for 2 years. Due to this news, HyunA and Dawn's contract were terminated, with Cube saying they could not "maintain trust" with them. However, Cube announced that they would remain in discussion with HyunA and Dawn until further notice. Cube cited "loss of trust" as the reason, saying "After much deliberation, we've concluded that the trust between the company and the artists had been damaged to a degree that it cannot be restored, leading us to believe expulsion is necessary," in an official statement. HyunA officially left Cube on October 15 2018. But not all hope was lost, after both HyunA and Dawn signed to P Nation, the record label founded by PSY after he left YG Entertainment in 2018.
