The central idea of the passage is what Lewis and Clark encountered and/or experienced on their expedition like the Walla Wallas and the Chinooks. The passage talks about how the Chinookan people would steal small things and would think it is funny or a game, and Lewis and Clark did not enjoy this. The Walla Wallas on the other hand were more friendly and had a party and they danced to music the people made, and they helped the expedition and gave them a way to go 80 miles less.

The central idea of the passage is how Thomas Jefferson sent them to explore the greatest real estate deal in history so he spent the explorers to look over all of the land he purchased.

The central idea is about what they encountered in oregon and washington state. Well the group first encountered the Chinooks who stole a pipe and a cote. The expedition team got mad at them so they stole a canoe and house boards. Later the meet the Walla Walla tribe which they had a better experience with. They also gave them a shortcut for the expedition which shortened it by a 80 miles.

The central idea of the passage is how Meriwether Lewis and William Clark had to endure through the playful, yet frustrating Chinookan people. The text soon states" Clark claimed that the Chinookan people stole his pipe and a coat". This piece of evidence tells me Clark was frustrated with the Chinookan people. The text also states " Lewis and Clark were greatly irritated, and to get back at the Chinookan people, they they stole house boards and later a canoe". The second piece of evidence proves my hypothesis that they were frustrated.

The text says "The Native americans demanded what the captains considered an unreasonably high prices for their horses. Then the text says "They also regularly helped themselves to hatches, knives and other small items left unattended in the expeditions camp. In conclusion Lewis and Clark faced many challenges during their expedition.
