I think the theme of this story could be to be honest and to not lie.Instead of stealing you can politely ask what you want and they will let you borrow stuff. The story is mostly about Ooka stealing rice for daily meals and he gets guilty for stealing the meal and I think he returns every single grain of it and I think he apologizes. Ooka should've stole the rice from the store. Ooka probally needs to learn to not steal stuff and to ALWAYS be honest. One night the store keeper catches him stealing rice but Ooka said he needed it for his family but would return it when he got a job.But all along I thought he should've asked for rice.

The theme of the story is that Ooka thinks the thief is honest. I think Ooka is right because the thief didn’t take more than he needed. Also because the thief said he would return all that he has taken when he gets a job. My 3rd reason is because the thief took the right amount of rice for his family. Once the thief got a job he returned all the rice he has taken. That’s what I think is the theme of the story. So the theme of the story is to be honest always.

The theme is the thief was honest. In my opinon think the thief was honest so he wouldn't get in trouble. He did that because he probably knew it was wrong. All he needed was to borrow something. He maybe didn't mean to steal it.

The theme was kind of calm and not that much drama. I think that because when I was listening to the story I heard that Ooka was being honest when someone asked him ''if he stole anything.'' He simply said ''Yes.'' He said yes because, he needed food for his family. And it's okay to be an honest thief. As long as you don't do it again, its okay. and always remember, BE HONEST!

The theme of the story is even when some people do bad things, it does not mean they are bad people. The thief stole rice every night. He did it so his family would have food to eat. Once he was caught, he was honest with Ooka. I think being honest helped him because Ooka was not mad.
