The theme is its always kind to help and save someone when there being nice to you. When Mae was getting arrested for kidnapping Winnie, Winnie lied and said they were her friends. I know this because according to the book it says "
Winnie opened her eyes a crack. She could see the shotgun lying on the grass where Mae had dropped it. She could see Mae's hands, too, hanging limp, clenching, then hanging limp again. The sun was scorching hot, and near her ear a gnat whined.

The constable stood up. "What did you hit him for?" he wheezed resentfully.

"He was taking the child away," said Mae. Her voice was dull and exhausted. "He was taking the child against her will."

At this the constable exploded. "Ding-dang it, woman, what you trying to say? Taking that child against her will? That's what you done. You kidnapped that child."

Winnie let go of Tuck's waist and turned around. Her trembling had stopped. "They didn't kidnap me," she said. "I came because I wanted to."

Behind her, Tuck drew his breath in sharply."You wanted to?" echoed the constable, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You wanted to?" "That's right," said Winnie unflinchingly. "They're my friends." . This proves Winnie would do anything to keep the Tucks safe.

Another reason the theme is what it is, is because Winnie when Mae was in jail she wanted to help her escape. I know this because according to the book it says "Mae! Her head appeared. It was too dark to see her face. The window—what if it was too small for her to squeeze through? What if . . . But now her shoulders were out. She groaned softly. Another flash of lightning lit her face for an instant and Winnie saw an expression there of deep concentration, tip of tongue protruding, brows furrowed. ". This proves Winnie wanted to save Mae to get out of jail.

Winnie loved Jesse and thought about living with him forever. Jesse gave Winnie the spring water that makes people live forever and Jesse wanted to live forever with Winnie. I know this because according to the book it says ""Well then, listen." He knelt beside her, his curls tumbled and his eyes wide. "I been thinking it over. Pa's right about you having to keep the secret. It's not hard to see why. But the thing is, you knowing about the water already, and living right next to it so's you could go there any time, well, listen, how'd it be if you was to wait till you're seventeen, same age as me—heck, that's only six years off—and then you could go and drink some, ". This proves Jesse wants to marry Winnie.

I think the theme of Tuck Everlasting is be helpful to all the people around you. I think this because when Tuck and Winnie were canoeing, Tuck told Winnie not to drink the spring water because he says that living forever is a bad thing. Another reason I think this is because when Mae was in jail, Winnie decided to take her place so Mae wouldn't be in jail anymore. The last reason is when Winnie sees the toad on the other side of the fence, she goes back into her house; grabs the spring water; and pours the whole bottle of it on the toad so the toad could live forever. In the text it states, "'Cause they wouldn't know till after, and then it'd be too late." He peered at her, and Winnie saw that his face was pinched with the effort of explaining. "Do you see, now, child? Do you understand? Oh, Lord, I just got to make you understand!" Now Tuck was on the box, helping her, giving her his own shoulders to pull on, Miles and Jesse close at his sides, arms upstretched, eager to receive her bulk. Her hips were free—now, look out! When the thunder came, it tore the sky apart with its roar, and as it came, she pulled herself through, and dropped to the cot inside, unharmed. And then, on an impulse, she turned and ran into the cottage, up to her room, to the bureau drawer where she had hidden Jesse's bottle—the bottle of water from the spring. Winnie pulled out the cork from the mouth of the bottle, and kneeling, she poured the precious water, very slowly and carefully, over the toad." Overall, I think that Winnie is selfless but also kind-hearted. First, she didn't drink the spring water and told her because Tuck told her not to. Next, she freed Mae and instead of Mae being in jail, Winnie took her place. Lastly, Winnie decided to pour the spring water over the toad so the toad could live forever and not her. In conclusion, Tuck Everlasting is a really great book and I learned a lot from it.

While reading Tuck Everlasting the author made me think a lot about what he wants the reader to get out of this. So, I think the theme of this story is sometimes friendship is closer than you think. One reason why I think this is because Winnie was scared of the tucks at first which means she never thought that they would because friends but in the end they did. In the text it states "Afterward, when she thought about it, it seemed to Winnie that the next few minutes were only a blur. First she was kneeling on the ground, insisting on a drink from the spring, and the next thing she knew, she was seized and swung through the air, open-mouthed, and found herself straddling the bouncing back of the fat old horse, with Miles and Jesse trotting along on either side, while Mae ran puffing ahead, dragging on the bridle." Another reason why I think this is the theme is because Winnie started to trust them. Winnie started trusting the tucks and the tucks started trusting Winnie which is a good sign for friendship. "And Winnie, laughing at him, lost the last of her alarm. They were friends, her friends. She was running away after all, but she was not alone. Closing the gate on her oldest fears as she had closed the gate of her own fenced yard, she discovered the wings she'd always wished she had." this shows she was happy with them and trusted them. The last and final reason why the theme is this is because in the end Winnie realized they were friends after they have been together throughout the weeks. "They're my friends." Winnie had said that throughout the story. In all the theme of this story is sometimes friendship is closer than you think.

There can be multiple themes for the book Tuck Everlasting, but I think mine, makes the most sense. Sometimes in life, you don't realize how much you care about someone or people, until they're gone. One scene that supports my theme is when Winnie "ran away" from her parents. They clearly cared about her very much if they gave their wood away just to find her."I suppose you're right," said Winnie. "Then you'd be just the way I am, now. Why should you have to be
cooped up in a cage, too? It'd be better if I could be like you, out in the open and making up my own mind.
Do you know they've hardly ever let me out of this yard all by myself? I'll never be able to do anything
important if I stay in here like this. I expect I'd better run away." She paused and peered anxiously at the toad
to see how it would receive this staggering idea, but it showed no signs of interest. "You think I wouldn't
dare, don't you?" she said accusingly. "I will, though. You'll see. Maybe even first thing in the morning, while
everyone's still asleep."Another scene that supports my theme is when the constable took Winnie back to her home. Winnie didn't want to leave the Tucks."And so they had borne her into the house, and after she had taken the bath they insisted upon, they fed and
petted her and refused, with little laughs and murmurs, to accept her answers to their questions: She had gone away with the Tucks because—well, she just wanted to. The Tucks had been very kind to her, had given her
flapjacks, taken her fishing."One last scene that supports my theme is when Tuck finds Winnie's grave stone. He was sad, but happy she didn't drink the stream and she didn't have to go through what the Tucks had to go through. "Slowly, Tuck turned his footsteps toward the monument. And saw, as he approached, that there were other,
smaller markers all around it. A family plot. And then his throat closed. For it was there. He had wanted it to
be there, but now that he saw it, he was overcome with sadness. He knelt and read the inscription:
In Loving Memory Winifred Foster Jackson
Dear Wife
Dear Mother
1870-1948
"So," said Tuck to himself. "Two years. She's been gone two years." He stood up and looked around,
embarrassed, trying to clear the lump from his throat." As you can see, many scenes show the theme sometimes in life, you don't realize how much you care for people, until they're gone.

The theme of Tuck EverLasting is if everyone lived for ever it would be bad. The theme of Tuck EverLasting is if everyone lived for ever it would be bad, because Tuck always talked to Winnie that it is horrible to live for ever. Another reason why that is the theme of the book is because, it talked about how miserable the tucks have been since the water indecent. Finally is also due to when they had to keep moving towns and places and had to leave everything they loved behind like for example Winnie. I can prove this when they stated,"Eighty-seven years before, the Tucks had come from a long way to the east, looking for a place to settle. In
those days the wood was not a wood, it was a forest, just as her grandmother had said: a forest that went on
and on and on. They had thought they would start a farm, as soon as they came to the end of the trees" Another Way I can prove the second reason is when they stated, ""When we come to that conclusion," Mae went on, "Tuck said—that's my husband, Angus Tuck—he said he
had to be sure, once and for all. He took his shotgun and he pointed it at hisself the best way he could, and
before we could stop him, he pulled the trigger." There was a long pause. Mae's fingers, laced together in her
lap, twisted with the tension of remembering. At last she said, "The shot knocked him down. Went into his". finnaly The last way I can prove this is when they stated, "Oh," said Mae, "they go different places, do different things. They work at what jobs they can get, try to
bring home some of their money. Miles can do carpentering, and he's a pretty fair blacksmith, too. Jesse now,
he don't ever seem too settled in himself. Course, he's young." She stopped and smiled. "That sounds funny,
don't it? Still, it's true, just the same. So Jesse, he does what strikes him at the moment, working in the fields,
or in saloons, things like that, whatever he comes across. But they can't stay on in any one place for long, you
know. None of us can. People get to wondering." She sighed. "We been in this house about as long as we
dare, going on twenty years. It's a right nice place. Tuck's got so's he's real attached to it. Then, too, it's off by
itself, plenty of fish in the pond, not too far from the towns around. When we need things, we go sometimes
to one, sometimes the next, so people don't come to notice us much. And we sell where we can. But I guess
we'll be moving on, one of these days. It's just about time.". In conclusion, the theme of

I know this because in the book it states "We ain't part of the wheel no more." this shows he doesn't what to live forever but he can't change it now. Also in the text, it states "But dying's part of the wheel, right there next to being born. You can't pick out the pieces you like and leave the rest. Being part of the whole thing, that's the
blessing." which also shows how they didn't know what they were getting into and they didn't what this. Another quote is "I want to grow again," which again shows they didn't what this but it happened away.

The theme of Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt is if you could live forever don't take that chance. I think this because there are many times in the book where it explains how you don't want to drink the water and live forever. The first reason you would not want to live forever is because it is a big responsibility to keep being able to live forever a secret. According to the book it said that Winnie was going to save Mae from the Gallows. Winnie, Jessie and so on did not have to do this if Mae was not able to live forever and they didn't have to keep anything a secret. The second reason you would not want to live forever is because in the text it states, "Know what that is, all around us, Winnie?" said Tuck, his voice low. "Life. Moving, growing, changing,
never the same two minutes together. This water, you look out at it every morning, and it looks the same, but
it ain't. All night long it's been moving, coming in through the stream back there to the west, slipping out
through the stream down east here, always quiet, always new, moving on. You can hardly see the current,
can you? And sometimes the wind makes it look like it's going the other way. But it's always there, the water's
always moving on, and someday, after a long while, it comes to the ocean." Finally, in the text it states, "Always coming in new, always growing and changing, and always moving on. That's the way it's supposed to" In conclusion the theme of the book is if you can live forever don't take that chance.
be.

What is the theme of Tuck Everlasting? Well, i think the theme is, "Sometimes in life, if you love someone, you would do everything you can to protect them." One reason I think this is the theme is that Winne tells the constable that she came to the Tucks and the Tucks did NOT kidnap her. It says, "At this the constable exploded. "Ding-dang it, woman, what you trying to say? Taking that child against her
will? That's what you done. You kidnapped that child." Winnie let go of Tuck's waist and turned around. Her trembling had stopped. "They didn't kidnap me," she said. "I came because I wanted to." Another reason I think this is the theme is that when Mae had to bail out of jail, Winnie offered to take her place once she does. It says, "I don't know," said Winnie, "but it doesn't matter. Tell your father I want to help. I have to help. If it wasn't for me, there wouldn't have been any trouble in the first place. Tell him I have to." The last reason I think this is when at the end of the book, she protected the toad from the dog when the dog was barking and picking at the toad. It says, "Oh!" cried Winnie. "Oh—don't do that! Leave my toad alone!" And before she had time to realize what she was doing, she bent, reached through the bars, and snatched the toad up and away from harm, dropping it on the grass inside the fence.

Tuck Everlasting has many things that stand out multiple times but one really stood out to me. Sometimes in life you never know who or what people really are until you spend time with them. I think this was the theme of Tuck Everlasting because, in the beginning Winnie got "Kidnapped" by the Tucks and she thought they were criminals, and that she would never see her family again. The text states, " Afterward, when she thought about it, it seemed to Winnie that the next few minutes were only a blur. First
she was kneeling on the ground, insisting on a drink from the spring, and the next thing she knew, she was
seized and swung through the air, open-mouthed, and found herself straddling the bouncing back of the fat
old horse, with Miles and Jesse trotting along on either side, while Mae ran puffing ahead, dragging on the
bridle.
Winnie had often been haunted by visions of what it would be like to be kidnapped. But none of her visions
had been like this, with her kidnappers just as alarmed as she was herself. She had always pictured a troupe of
burly men with long black moustaches who would tumble her into a blanket and bear her off like a sack of
potatoes while she pleaded for mercy." This shows that she thought they were kidnappers and she was going to die but she calmed down she heard why she got "kidnapped." Another reason I think the theme is Sometimes in life you never know who or what people really are until you spend time with them is because as the book goes on she keep saying that the Tucks are her friends and when she said that she wasn't lying but if it was when she first met them that would be a lie because she thought they were kidnapping her. The last and final reason the theme of the book is Sometimes in life you never know who or what people really are until you spend time with them. It is because after Mae hits the man in the yellow suit withe the gun Winnie talks to the constable and says they are my friends she only says that because as she was at the Tucks house she got to know them better and she felt as they went along they got closer together and felt like they could trust each other and be friends. The text states," At this the constable exploded. "Ding-dang it, woman, what you trying to say? Taking that child against her
will? That's what you done. You kidnapped that child."
Winnie let go of Tuck's waist and turned around. Her trembling had stopped. "They didn't kidnap me," she
said. "I came because I wanted to."
Behind her, Tuck drew his breath in sharply.
"You wanted to?" echoed the constable, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You wanted to?"
"That's right," said Winnie unflinchingly. "They're my friends." The constable was shocked to think that she liked the Tucks but it was true as she was at the Tucks house she liked them and she was their friend and they knew it too. So I can see that the theme for the book is Sometimes in life you never know who or what people really are until you spend time with them. I know because of the reason I have stated.

The main theme of tuck is to help people. One of the reasons is how winnie lied to the constable, and told him that she went with the tucks willingly. I know she did this because in the text it states "Winnie let go of Tuck's waist and turned around. Her trembling had stopped. 'They didn't kidnap me,' shesaid. 'I came because I wanted to.' This shows that she wanted to help the tucks so the they wouldn't go to jail and The truth of them living forever would get out if they did go to jail.
Another reason the main theme is helping people is how Winnie comforts Tuck and she tells him everything will be alright when Mae gets arrested. I know she did this because in the book it states "And then Winnie said something she had never said before, but the words were words she had sometimes heard, and often longed to hear. They sounded strange on her own lips and made her sit up straighter. "Mr.
Tuck," she said, "don't worry. Everything's going to be all right." " This shows that Winnie wanted tuck to not be upset and stay calm so she helped him.
The last reason that helping people is the main idea is how Winnie switched places with mae in jail. I know she did this because in the book it states "I can help! When your mother climbs out the
window, I'll climb in and take her place. I can wrap myself up in her blanket, and when the constable looks in,
he won't be able to tell the difference. Not in the dark. I can hump up and look a lot bigger. Miles can even
put the window back. That would give you time to get away! You'd have at least till morning!" This shows that winnie wanted to get mae out of jail because if she didn't the secret of the spring water would get out and everyone would be living forever. In conclusion the theme of Tuck Everlasting is helping people

I think that the theme of Tuck Everlasting is that you only get one life that's what makes it special. I also think that it makes you think that even if you could you shouldn't live forever which would not be good because you could go every where and do everything but what happens when there's nothing left to do. Tucks explanation about living forever made me think most about this I also think that it wouldn't be nice because like tuck says there like rocks on the side of the road and other people are cars moving and changing but there the rocks just staying there lifeless.
