Evidence 1: Donkey Kong mentions that because of Mario, no one takes him seriously, which makes him the real villain. He says, "You know who gave me that stupid name? Mario did. ... Only a true villain would demean his own pet like that!"
Evidence 2: Donkey Kong says "When are people going to start seeing Mario for what he really is? Take another look beyond the Mario Party line, my friends. You might just be surprised at what you find". He is hinting at the fact that there is a lot more to Mario than everyone sees.
Claim 2: Mario was cruel and malicious because he only did what he wanted and didn't care about anyone else.
