Chapter 11 highlights the importance of dance and movement in the classroom. Through the art of dance, students participate in an outgoing activity which helps them shape their bodies and mind. Additionally, this chapter provided firsthand experience of how a teacher incorporated science and dance to explain a subject, and how successful it was for students to learn this new material.

Some other important points teachers can learn from this chapter are that dancing is an activity which strengthens the body and mind. Introducing students to dance helps them develop strength, coordination, stamina, but most importantly it aids in mental agility and increases ones focus. Also, through dance students learn about discipline.

One experience covered in this chapter was the clever technique a teacher used to illustrate the growth of a plant by using dance movements. First, the students were instructed to curl up like a ball, this represented a newly planted seed. Then, they gradually uncurled themselves to reveal a full grown plant. As the students extended their limbs they would sway back and forth as if they were in a large field being blown by the wind.

I found the concept of integrating different subjects to explain the process of plant growth to be quite intriguing. This exercise seems to have a positive impact on students, because of its cooperative and interactive nature.
