The Battle of Iwo Jima was one of the last battles fought between the Japanese and the Americans in the Pacific. It was also one of the bloodiest battles for both sides. The reason for this is due to the island's close proximity to the Japanese home islands, and the fact that the Japanese considered it to be part of their nation. The horrific casualties experienced by the Americans helped reinforced the sense of how terrible and costly an invasion of the actual Japanese islands would be.

The US set u a trap and during the batte they destroyed 4 Japanese aircraft carriers. This battle took place from June 4-7th of 1942. Essentialy this battle was important because the US crippled Japan's carriers.

On August 6, 1945, the American Army bombed the city of Hiroshima. This marked the first atomic bomb used during a war. The bomb also known as the Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima. This ended up killing anywhere from 90,000 166,000 people.

It was a major fight during WW2 it started on August 7th of 1942 to Feb 9th of 1943. The Japanese were building an air base on Guadalcanal that could threaten the allied supply routes between the US and Australia. The Allies won the battle and that stopped the Japanese from expanding further into the Pacific.

It took place on June 19-20, 1944. The Allies wanted to take control over the Mariana Islands so that they could use it as a base for the Allied bombers to attack Japan. The Battle helped weaken Japan's navy. The allies won and it meant that they could keep fighting and getting victory in the pacific.

It was to free the Philippine islands from the Japanese. The liberation meeting took place on Oct 20th, 1944, and Sept 2nd, 1945. It was a major event that allowed the Allies to defeat Japan in the Pacific yet again.
