To me Annalise Keating is a perfect example of self-reliance because through out the episodes and seasons Annalise is a confident woman. She seemed to live the perfect life as she was a respected for being one of the best lawyers, many people feared he but also admired her. Annalise is a women with "two faces" she shows the side where she is a strong woman and ans shows no emotion while her other side she is on a emotional roller coaster. Quotes from the expert would be "it loves not realities and creators, but names and customs."

A song that is influenced by Emerson's essay is "God Made Me" by Chantal Kreviazuk the lyrics that show a connection with the essay are ".... I say to be true This is the way God Made me
No self reliance
No social skills
You're confidante
And you express yourself so...." In the essay it is "... Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus and Galileo, and Newton, and every our and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to misunderstood."

A great thinker that was misunderstood in her time was Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. Everyone had seen her as a party girl who would spend her days socialising and tending to her perfectly manicured blonde bob. The truth about Zelda, is that she was an artist, wordsmith in her own right and a trained dancer. Lastly some of the best lines spoken in The Great Gatsby were spoken by her, a long with some of her own writings were published but it was published under her husbands name so she never received the credit she deserved.

"Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. Accept the place divine providence has found for you;..." With doubt and challenges this quotes can help us realize that the chain of events happening in our lives is for a greater purpose. Emerson's quote is very reliable to today's time because many people allow the actions of other and society influence their thoughts and actions and just to trust yourself and your own thoughts.
