I ran in to him last year at a tech convention and we talked for 20 minutes plus about all kinds of life's enjoyments. The most important topic: Jesus Christ and redemption.

Many of the things I am able to do now with technology is due to Jack's help and guidance! He may not have had a teaching license, but Jack was a great teacher and friend! He will be missed!

I was very lucky, my classroom was just across and down the hall a few feet.

It was normal to dash into Jack's office with a question or story. Jack was a trusted friend who shared more than his tech side, but his faith and love of family. To this day I believe Jack's videotaping was the reason we won a state cheer championship. This was before the iPad and to get immediate feedback was rare. It was his video skills that helped the kids learn before the next practice. Yes, they had to perform it, but the video showed them what to fix. What an advantage he gave us by placing that video in our hands an hour after we recorded it.

I remember 9/11, he was standing the library when the news cast came on the tv. I walked in to have him tell me what was going on. If it had been any other person, it may have affected how I reacted and felt that day. As years past, he was one person I knew you could go to for anything! He had the biggest heart and nevered judged. I will truly miss talking to him and being able just to say hello and receive and friendly hug. We love you Jack!

My first memory of Jack was a random moment in second grade, I was in the hallway and he came across me with a digital camera. Digital camera's were still uncommon around then and he took my picture and let me see it- which I thought was pretty cool. I remember being a bit shy at first but I saw he was really nice and for some reason that small moment still sticks in my mind.

In high school I realized how much he had to deal with what with having over 200 people carrying around precious technology like it was no big deal- he fixed so many problems and worked hard and I have a lot of respect for him because of all he could do for the school's technology department. Even when he was obviously stressed at times and maybe scary to approach on a tough day- I still admired him. I guess I think that not a lot of other students really thought about how much he did for us.

He always helped me no matter how small the problem was, and I remember feeling sad when I realized that after I graduated I couldn't have him help me out with mac troubles. Not only was he a great help and super patient with me, I just liked being in his company because I still remember the day he took my picture in the hallway when I was 8. I'll remember the sweet man he was and I'm going to miss him.

I was so blessed to sit with Jack and Cynthia at a graduation reception, and we talked about the hearts of the people we are surrounded by. It was so much fun to see the Holy Spirit rise in him as he talked about the people in their church and how God was moving in them. As hard as it is to see someone we love leave us, it is so exciting to see that Jack kne for sure where he was going when his work on Earth was done. You can't beat that!

BOTH of them have become trusted friends - always an ear to listen, words of advice to give, patience and understanding....and list could go on and on.

Above all else, the best memories I have of Jack are of our shared daily conversations of the Cyclones and his unending enthusiasm for going to the home games at Hilton!

He was true to his marriage like no other - honoring Cynthia in ways that so many men miss! He one time told me that I should never take offense if he didn't 'share' a lunch with me if it was just the two of us because his wife was the only one he would be alone with. That truly touched my heart.

He was a genius in his work, thoughtful of others in life, and loyal to God.....without any doubt - I know exactly where Jack is - and I bet he found some fellow Cyclones to enjoy visiting with!

He is irreplaceable and will always be in our hearts and minds!

Thank you Jack!

He was kind and had a great sense of humor. Loved playing football and singing in choir with him. After high school when I was attending the University of Iowa, Jack and Cynthia lived nearby and invited me over a couple of times for meals and some refreshing drinks. Could always have a good conversation with Jack and always was a pleasure to be around him. I haven't seen Jack in years but my heart is greatly saddened to hear of his passing. You could tell how much he enjoyed his time with BCLUW- he was always willing to share information he found on the latest app or sharing with Erin a specific program that may be useful to her with her job. Jack was someone I will always remember for his caring, pleasant, easy going attitude on life. Jack made it much easier for me to get to know the family as I considered him a warm hearted soul who was genuinely interested in making me feel accepted.

One of the things that I’ll always remember about Jack was that even though much of his work at school was done behind the scenes, it was obvious that he always had student learning as the focus of his work. A good example comes from one of the last conversations I had with Jack It was shortly after I had shoulder surgery this summer, and Jack was telling me about a new Enhanced Dictation Speech-To-Text function that he recommended I try for word processing. As I was telling him how well it worked for me, Jack began to talk about the ways he thought this feature could be of assistance to students with special needs, including those that may have some physical or certain learning impairments. That’s just one example of many we’ve seen through the years, but gives a glimpse into Jack’s caring nature, concern for students, and desire to always try to put the best tools for learning that he could in the hands of our kids.

Jack taught me to like that Apple computer. My first year teaching Jack got me a projector, a laptop and showed me all I needed to get in to trouble. Talking to Jack was rarely quick because you could always find a common interest with him. Observing Jack on our mini work trip to Ute will be the best example of a true disciple I could ever hope to witness. He also knew where to get a GREAT burger.

Gina Dinsmore

I will always remember how helpful and kind Jack was to those of us who are not so technologically literate. I was usually the one with the dumb question that any 3rd grader could answer, but Jack never made me feel inferior. He would happily answer my question or fix my computer even if he was busy doing something more important, always willing to take the time to help. I loved chatting with him about all sorts of things and how he would beam when our conversations were about his children and how they were doing. Jack will be missed by everyone, as he touched so many lives. I am blessed to have been touched.

Jack was definitely one of a kind. He was so kind-hearted, and he was always there with a helping hand ready to reach out to anyone who needed it. He was a role-model to me and my family and a good christian man. He loved his wife dearly and I admired him for always having a smile on his face! You are and will be missed Jack! I know Tucker misses those fist bumps!

Jack and I always talked in the mornings before school started, he always said good morning to me with a smile. Also while he's fixing my computer we would talk about God, his family and my family, and of course school, I'll miss Jack, but I know he's with God

Kristi Kushner

I recently spent some time in the Sunday school rooms at the "old" church. Soooo many memories there and Jack is a part of so many of them! I remember his smile, I remember how calm and peaceful he made me feel, and I will never forget the hours of sardines that he had to endure there. There's no question that he made this world a better place. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you all!!
