一般來說，學生帶手提電話是用於與別人通話及交談聯絡等，學校不准學生帶手提電話上學的原因，因為如果學生帶手提電話上學，電話聲會破壞課堂時的學習氣氛，學生在上課或小息也會與朋友談天，簡直把學校當作一個商場，隨意就大聲笑大聲聊天。學校並不想學生在嘈吵的情況下學習，便不准學生拿電話回校。而且學校裏面一定會貪心的學生，假如看見自己的手提電話沒有別人的功能強和美觀，便會以不軌的途徑得到同學的手提電話。這樣不單破壞了學校的形象，而且會使同學們對學校失去信心，恐怕自己的東西被人偷去，因此學校不准學生帶電話是有一定的原因。 
我本人就贊成學生帶手提電話上學，因為萬一在上學或放學時間遇有突發事件例如︰路途中被人打劫，遇交通意外等，可直接與親人聯絡，而且當親人有急事找自己的時候也發揮到手提電話的功效。如九一一事件中，如果受難者沒有手提電話，便令家人擔心。如果有手提電話的，可以向親人報平安，使親人的安心。所以我認為學生帶手提電話上學是有需要的。 
但如果學校准許學生帶手提電話上學，又有甚麼方法可以解決學生上課時使用電話的問題呢？我個人認為，學生如常帶「手提」上學，回到學校便交由校方保管，放學後取回「手提」，這是一個兩全其美的方法，這樣不單解決學校憂慮的問題，而學生也可如常帶「手提」上學。經過種種的分析可知其實學校也可以准許學生拿手提電話上學。
