Face to face meetings in group or individual are in fact important. However, I know my parents and they don’ t like going to school only for those meetings to talk about school results and students’ behavior. They want more, an active participation in different projects such as Erasmus, eTwinning, European Club, Arts, workshops, school trips and some other examples!! Nowadays my parents try to understand the learning process better, fortunately!!

School staff should demonstrate to parents how their children’s health and education can be enhanced by their engagement in school health activities. In addition, parents tend to be more involved if they perceive that school staff and students both want and expect their involvement. See this document about “Building a strong culture of parents-school engagement”, of Association of Independent school of the ACT incorporated that exactly shows this.

To maximize parental engagement, communication about parental engagement opportunities should clarify the intentions and expected benefits for students and other partners. It also may be useful to clarify that each parent can give a valuable contribute and that there are many ways of participate according to their available time.

The strategy of promoting greater approximation of families to the school system and communication channels should work efficiently and effectively. We can even mention that communication, while sharing information, presents itself as one of the greatest challenges to be attained not merely to disseminate school results and to the issues inherent to the behaviour and difficulties of learning of the Students.

I think that the best way to maximize parental engagement will be according to each school. We must seek the opinion of all parents and find among them the solution. All means of communication are possible as long as parents can be involved. In each situation of each school we must choose the one that best fits.

In my opinion the best way to maximize parental engagement is -Communication between school and family: Parents are interested in the progress of their child but also in their school curriculum, and on the other hand the school is interested in the child's environment.
- Parents voluntary help at school: Parents' personal involvement in educational activities during the school year.
- School home help: The family is trying to create the appropriate learning environment for the child and when it is unable to interfere with school to create a good climate.
- Assistance to the child's homework: Parents are willing to offer appropriate assistance to children in various tasks when necessary.
-Participation in school administration: Parents participate in school decisions that directly or indirectly concern their child.
- School-family-community cooperation: The school brings together the family with various social actors (cultural clubs, etc.) and aims at securing resources necessary for the educational process.
If they understand that we want them with us they will change their feelings and get involved.

As we all know, engagement begins with trust and respect, so communication can become a problem if it is not straitforward, clear and simple. Therefore, first, schools should listen to parents' opinions/suggestions and decide exactly what to do and afterwards select the best means to establish communication with parents along the way, according to the circumstances.
