    Article 1: Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. Social distinctions can only be founded if it will benefit everyone.


    Article 2: Governments should be focused on maintaining peoples rights. Rights to: Freedom, property ownership, safely, resistance to oppression.


    Article 3: No one should be given orders, unless it comes from the government. Political power and rule must come from the nation (not only the king)


    Article 4: Liberty means you can do anything unless it hurts someone else or takes away someone else's rights. People should have the same rights as you do.


    Article 5: Law can only make things illegal if they are hurtful to society, nothing can be prevented  if it is not illegal by law. People can't just make up laws and try to enforce them.


    Article 6: Law is what the people want it to be, everyone has the right to put their opinion into it, all citizens are seen as equal (it must be the same for all).  Anyone can have any job or public position (role in government) they want, if you have the ability.


    Article 7: No one will be accused, arrested or imprisoned except if it is according to the law. If someone starts arresting people without cause, they will be punished/arrested. You need to accept the arrest. (Can't run from the cops)


    Article 8: The law will decide the punishments and if they are needed. 


    Article 9: Innocent until proven guilty and if they are guilty, not use extra force and violence. Don't mistreat prisoners. (Police brutality)


    Article 10: Freedom of speech and religion as long as you do not break the law.


    Article 11: Every citizen may, accordingly, speak, write, and print with freedom. If you break the law, you will be held responsible.


    Article 12: France needs a military, their goal is ONLY to serve the people (King is no longer in charge)


    Article 13: Taxes → taxes should be paid by everyone according to how much you make.


    Article 14: Citizens should know where their taxes are going, and can vote on how big the taxes are.


    Article 15: Society can get the receipts of things (if you are a government official). What you spent money, what you spent money on etc…


    Article 16: If we do not follow the law and if we don't uphold the separation of powers (take power from the king), our constitution is voided. 


    Article 17: We can not take others land (you have the right to own and keep property) the government can only take it if the majority of the society deems fit, the government must also compensate them.
