  • New diseases such as Chagas disease, Pinta, and Bejel were introduced from the Old World.
  • Population booms that nearly doubled the population of the Old World was one that was sustained by New World crops. And led to cramped horrible conditions in European cities for the working class. One exacerbated by the increasing prices that came into being as a direct result of inflation caused by precious metals flooding european markets from the new world. The advent of capitalism helped further increase the wealth disparity in Europe and force the working class into crowded quarters on the edge of european cities.
