Jackie was told horrible and derogatory things while he was just trying to play professional baseball. Even though he was told these things and was shown a lot of hate, he still chose to stay positive as he said, ¨I never cared about acceptance as much as I cared about respect.¨ Jackie was treated bad but he kept going and never quit, he did not let the bad moments faze him.

Rosa Parks was a courageous woman standing up against Racism and Discrimination. In 1955 Rosa Parks got on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. She was sitting in the front of the bus but when more white people got on the bus driver told her to move to the back. She was told to sit in the back because of the Jim Crow Laws. The Jim Crow Laws were discriminatory against black people. Rosa Parks refused to move and this led to “one of the largest social movements in history, the Montgomery Bus Boycott”. Rosa Parks said “People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn’t true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was forty-two. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in.” Because of Rosa Parks courage, hope, and resilience African Americans have the freedom that they deserve today. Rosa Parks' story connects to the themes of resilience and courage of Anne Frank's story. Rosa Parks showed hope and courage by not giving up her seat and giving in to the Jim Crow Laws. Anne Frank showed hope, courage, and resilience because even though she knew what was happening outside of her home she still had hope things were going to change.

https://www.womenshistory.org/education-resources/biographies/rosa-parks --- Aren Osyczka

Bones Hyland had a tough childhood in Wilmington, Delaware. He grew up in a rough neighborhood and faced many challenges, including being shot in the leg, which almost killed him. Even though this was a very hard thing to go through, he didn’t give up. He worked hard to get better and kept following his dream of playing basketball. Eventually, he made it to the NBA. Bones showed a lot of strength and never gave up on his future.

Bones Hyland’s story is similar to Anne Frank’s in The Diary of Anne Frank. Anne also faced many tough times, but she stayed hopeful and believed people were good at heart. Just like Anne, Bones didn’t let the hard things in life stop him. Both of them showed how strong people can be when they keep going, even when life is hard.

She had grown up in poverty in Mississippi and had been been sexually abused as a child, but this didn't let this define who she was as a person she instead used this as fueled to achieve great things.
