Leggi la trama del romanzo "Alice nel paese delle meraviglie" (L. Carroll) facendo attenzione alle caratteristiche dei personaggi e al loro ruolo

Cappellaio matto: Questo è probabilmente il personaggio più eccentrico ed è noto per la sua stravaganza, il suo comportamento imprevedibile e il suo aspetto bizzarro. Con lui Alice si ritrova a vivere una routine sempre uguale a sé stessa, ma non per questo meno divertente e gradevole, ossia il momento dell’afternoon tea. La frase che ripete sempre è: “è sempre l’ora del tè”. il Cappellaio ha un orologio che non segna l’ora, ma solo i giorni e i mesi e vive perennemente durante l’ora del tè! Invita Alice a partecipare al suo afternoon tea insieme alla Lepre Marzolina cantando, bevendo tè e mangiando pasticcini, mentre propone ad Alice indovinelli stravaganti come “perché un corvo somiglia a uno scrittoio?”.

Stregatto: il gatto - uno dei personaggi più celebri del romanzo - compare inizialmente nella casa della Duchessa come un personaggio privo di funzione precisa, intento a riscaldarsi presso il focolare. In seguito diventa protagonista di una conversazione con Alice, in cui rivela alla protagonista la legge fondamentale del “mondo alla rovescia” in cui la ragazzina si è ritrovata: dal momento che tutti sono pazzi, occorre comportarsi al contrario di come si fa nel mondo reale.

Biancoconiglio: rappresenta il tramite tra Alice e il “paese delle meraviglie”, è preoccupatissimo per il ritardo (non a caso, consulta affannosamente il suo orologio da taschino), che lo potrebbe metterlo in cattiva luce presso la Regina (è un adulto, ossessionato dai doveri e dal poco tempo a disposizione e sottomesso al potere della Regina). Il Bianconiglio rappresenta chi, senza fantasia, non sa o non riesce ad accettare le novità; è sempre terrorizzato dalle trasformazioni di Alice in nana o gigante.

Brucaliffo: è un bruco, blu e lungo esattamente sette centimetri e mezzo, dal carattere scostante e brusco, che Alice trova intento a fumare oziosamente un narghilè. E’ il simbolo del mutamento; alla fine del dialogo con Alice, il Brucaliffo si trasformerà infatti in una farfalla usando come bozzolo il fumo stesso del suo narghilè.

 Then she sees a cake labeled “Eat me” under the table. She bites into it and grows so much she can  fit inside the hall. Again, she’s too tall to pass through the door into the garden. Alice is bitterly disappointed and cries so much that a pool of tears forms around her. She doesn’t know who she is any more.

The Rabbit shows up again, but when Alice addresses him, he runs away,asking her to take him his gloves and fan .

Alice feels unable to give one and  she says that the Caterpillar, has no reason to criticize her  body that changes size.  Aggrieved by her clever answer, the Caterpillar suggests that Alice recite a poem but he says that  she didn’t say it right.  Alice confides in the creature that she’d like to be a different size, and the Caterpillar becomes a bit more pleasant, revealing that Alice should eat from one side of its mushroom to grow and the other to shrink.

She breaks off two pieces from the mushroom. She shrinks at first, but before she disappears takes a bite from the other piece and grows.. Walking through the woods, she stumbles upon the house of the Duchess and witnesses a fish-faced footman hand a frog-faced footman an invitation from the Queen to play croquet.

When the Queen arrives, Alice introduces herself. The severe ruler orders the beheading of anyone who displeases her. Alice then participates in a strange croquet game: The mallets are flamingos, rolled up hedgehogs serve as balls and playing card soldiers form the arches. One by one the Queen orders the execution of all the players for being unable to follow the confusing rules.

At her words, the cards rise up and come flying down on Alice, making her scream in anger and fear – until she realizes that she’s lying on the river bank and everything was but a dream. She tells her adventures to her sister, who reminds her that it is time for tea. After Alice rushes off to eat, her sister thinks about Alice’s future life and children, and how the story of her dream might entertain them.
