Collaboration and Online Discussion

There are many ways for people to collaborate and discuss online. One way I explored within this course was having a Twitter chat using a hashtag. The host plans a time for the chat, then sends out invites, as well as the hashtag where you'll have the discussion. The host will guide the discussion, or others can as well. Every response has to include the hashtag so everyone in the discussion can see your post.

Growing up, in classes I had teachers who would have us play Kahoot or Quizlet Live for a review game. I was shown Quizlet live I believe my senior year in highschool. I had never created a Kahoot before until recently. It is very easy and fun to do. It is where the host, educator, or such make this game. They type in questions which can be true or false or multiple choice questions. You type in all possible answers and then the right one and Kahoot sets it up really easy. It easy a fun, competitive game that I will be playing in my future classroom.

Lesson Planning

Throughout this course, I have been shown a lot of resources, people, blogs, websites, etc. Each help to give me ideas for my future classroom. One example is tiktok, where I have teachers posting their days as a teacher, or decorating their classroom, or creating different activities/ lessons, or creating different set up for other teachers to use. Teachers Pay Teachers is the main source I have seen where teachers post their templates for lesson plans, activites, etc. Teachers can then download and print for their own class, but at a cost. It is a creative site that allows teachers to share lesson plans and such with the world.

Whiteboard

I have found an online whiteboard that is free and easy to use, it is called Bluescape. You can make a profile for free and start using the whiteboard. When using a computer, you have to use the touchpad to write, draw, etc. If on an iPad or tablet, it would be easier to use a pen to write. You can create different canvas to write on or have an image on. You can draw/write, upload an image, add shapes, have a pointer to use as you are recording or teaching something, etc.

Learning Management Systems

I think my favorite learning management system is Canvas. In highschool I used Google Classroom and Canvas so I am very familiar with Canvas because I am using it in college as well. It is easy for teachers to post their weekly plans in the modules, as well as the assignments. There are many different tabs such as, announcements, assignments, discussions, grades, modules, etc. There are also resources on the side as well for students such as Smart thinking which is where students can turn in papers and have a tutor edit it or give suggestions for free.

There are a lot of different resources to use for presentation. I am used to using Google Slides and PowerPoint. I like using PowerPoint because after you have created a slideshow, you can record yourself speaking with or without video and then can share. I have seen many people use Prezi which I have never personally used it but it is a creative one. I also really like Padlet in which I am using now because you can do mini posts about certain topics in such like I am doing now.

I learned this semester about screencastify. I enjoy using it because it is very easy to record yourself while going on your laptop and showing someone how to get somewhere or to present information when needing to record yourself and such.

My favorite tool I have been using this semester is Canva when it comes to creating a poster. I have created two posters I think I will use for my future classroom. It provides many templates you can use. Canva can be used for a poster, index card, paper, etc. It is just a resource you can use to create what you want that provides templates. You can edit it to say what you want, add whatever stickers or colors as well.

In this semester, I have learned about PLN's, Professional Learning Networks. It is where educators create a PLN of people, resources, blogs, Tiktok handles, Instagram handles, and so much more for people to learn from each other all around the world by reading or viewing their information.

I think Google Sites is the easiest site to use when creating a website. You can link pages together, add many pages, type information, add images, etc. It allows for many things to be added to a page on your website that can be published and shared.
