The USA has a culture that comes from many different countries. People enjoy music, movies, and sports. Americans like freedom and new ideas.

The people in the USA are very diverse. They come from many backgrounds and speak many languages. Americans are often friendly and independent.

Food in the USA is also mixed. People eat hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza. Different areas have special foods, like barbecue or seafood.

Today, the old religion has disappeared. It was replaced by Islam. About 94% of Egyptians are Muslims, and Islam is the national religion. The second largest religion is Christianity.

Most Egyptians respect each other’s faith, but in some rural areas, there have been cases of religious discrimination.

This dish is called “Koshari.” It is very common in small food stalls in Egypt. Koshari was created because people in the past did not have much money. They mixed cheap ingredients together, and it became a big mixed dish.

Since about three-fourths of Egypt is desert, there is not much land for farming. This makes it hard to grow crops, and food prices became higher.

The pyramids of Egypt were the tombs of the pharaohs. They were first built about 4,600 years ago in the Old Kingdom. The base is a square and the four sides are triangles, so in Chinese they are called “Jin Zi Ta,” meaning pyramid. The pyramid is also one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The pyramids are among the largest buildings in history. Most of them were built in the Old Kingdom and the Middle Kingdom. They became the most famous symbol of ancient Egypt.

The main purpose of the pyramids was to be the pharaoh’s tomb. They were built to protect the pharaoh, to help him become a god, and to go to heaven. The pyramids showed strong religious belief. To build them, the pharaohs spent much money, many workers, and great effort.

What comes to your mind when you think of Switzerland?

First, let’s talk about a special Swiss food — fondue. It is the national dish of Switzerland.

How do we make fondue? We put many kinds of cheese into a pot and melt them. Then, we add white wine for more flavor. After that, the cheese sauce is ready. Finally, we use a long fork to dip bread, potato pieces, or chicken into the cheese and eat.

But how was fondue invented?

First, Switzerland has many mountains (about 60% of the land). The Alps give cows good grass, so the milk is very good.

Second, when people had too much milk, they made cheese. Cheese can last longer, and people could keep it for the winter.

Third, long ago in the cold winter, people heated old cheese and dry bread with wine. It became a warm meal that many people could share together.

Next, let’s talk about prices in Switzerland. Many YouTubers say things are very expensive there. For example, one Big Mac costs about 260 NT dollars! There are four main reasons why prices are so high:

1. High income: People in Switzerland earn a lot. Average salary is about 250,000–310,000 NT dollars a month. Even the lowest salary is around 150,000–170,000. Because of this, costs and prices go up.
   
   

2. High quality of life: Switzerland cares about hospitals, schools, and the environment. These need a lot of money.
   
   

3. Import dependence: Switzerland is a landlocked country. Fruits, oil, and many resources must be imported, so taxes make them more expensive.
   
   

4. Tourism: Switzerland is a popular tourist place, so some places have “tourist prices.”
   
   

Now, about languages. Switzerland has four official languages: Swiss German , French , Italian , and Romansh .

Why so many languages? Because Switzerland is in the middle of Europe. It is close to Germany in the north, France in the west, and Italy in the south. The government does not force people to use only one language. They respect culture diversity, so the country has many languages.

Swiss German is a little different from standard German. The grammar, some words, and the accent are different. But in formal places, people still use standard German.
