A thematic idea that is shown in 1984 by George Orwell is that technology is power. All of the lower classes have very little and restricted technology. This makes the spread of ideas and morals very limited and completely done via word of mouth. The government also uses technology to torture people into thinking similarly to them, converting them.

In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the theme of the grave importance of individual thinking is portrayed throughout. As governments begin to crack down on the ability of humans to think and act as themselves, the world begins to hault to a certain point and cease to progress, as demonstrated by Orwell. If no one is able to think alone from fear and brainwashing, then society is unable to develop new technologies and designs to benefit the world (when thought is limited down to a slim few people at the top of the party). Winston defies from this and develops his "identity" through his "unique ability to make decisions". Orwell uses this to depict the progression possible with individual thinking and how the real world should never fall into a totalitarian government such as the one in the novel.

Unwind is about the struggle of justifying unwinding and proving that life should be treasured and lives, not to be taken for granted.

A common theme in my book is acceptance. Miguel realizes a lot of things throughout their journey away from the lighthouse and one of those things is to accept everything that comes your way. He feels like nothing matters any more and he doesn't care what happens to him and he is okay with that. Another example of this is Mong. He has had a really bad life and a way he kept himself going was the same as Miguel, that whatever happens, happens and to just accept it because nothing matters. In the end, Mong realizes that he doesn't want to be alive anymore and he drowns himself, accepting the fact that he has nothing to live for anymore.

One thematic theme present in Lord of the Flies is how competition to survive inspires conflict and destruction of societies. At the beginning of the story, the boys begin to form a society and are enjoying their freedom because they don’t know of the consequences and problems of being stranded. Although as the book progresses, they lose their original joy and their form of society starts to crumble under their disputes over survival. They realize how hard it will be to survive altogether and then begin to turn on each other.

A thematic statement in my book, Jane Eyre, equality. In my book, the main character Jane constantly struggles to continually to achieve equality and to overcome oppression. In addition to class hierarchy, she must fight against patriarchal domination, and against those who believe women to be inferior to men and try to treat them as such. Jane’s struggle to overcome the dominate men in her life reveals the oppressive nature of patriarchal society and the lengths Victorian women had to go to assert their equality.
