A: He drinks because that is his way to cope with all the pain and what they have all lost.
Q: Even through all of the pain and drinking why does he still care for his son?
A: It is because he is a responsible father who understands how to commit to parenting. Junior is still his son who he loves and one of the reasons he drinks is because he feels bad that he can't provide for his family because of their poverty.
Q: Why does Junior's father leave the house and drink so often if he cares about his family?
A: He is an alcoholic and he has to drink to he has to feed his addiction but he leaves to drink because he is in pain and sad.
Q: Why did Junior's dad give Junior the 5 dollar bill on Christmas?
