When researching this genre I looked into how to go about making sure my magazine looked and felt like a rock magazine. I discovered that most people reading magazines similar to mine are male and young, generally around the age of 20. I also found that people reading magazines such as Kerrang! (my main inspiration) are also film lovers and use technology very regularly. After my extensive research I thought best to create a magazine designed for the teenage social group and young adults. I decided to aim my magazine more at males as they are the gender mostly read rock magazines.

From the beginning I wanted to make my magazine focus predominantly on rock music however also include smaller sections which look at indie rock and current popular folk rock. By doing this I felt I could attract a larger audience range. By doing this I felt it would also be appropriate to focus on new and upcoming artists as well as big names. The reason for this is due to myself listening to this particular type of music on a daily basis and keeping up with the music industry. In addition to this I read magazines such as Kerrang!, Rock Sound and NME which are linked to my chosen genre.

With my social group chosen I decided to use teenage males to be the model for my front cover and be the main feature of my magazine as this would reflect and make the magazine appealing to the social group. I also represented my magazine with fashion. It seems that most people of this particular social group tend to wear clothes from large chain stores such as Topman, Primark, Burton, River Island and Urban Outfitters. This is the smart casual indie look rather than the darker 'rockier' look. The style is more appealing as it usually includes brighter yet more neutral colours , this is why I have used images of my artists in hoodies, jackets, jeans and plain shirts.

Throughout my magazine I represented the teenage social group with teenage interests other the fashion such as the article in my double page spread where I have mentioned Twitter, a social networking site commonly used by teenagers and young adults. This can help for the reader to relate the artist in their own way by sharing a common interest and feeling comfortable and 'at home'. With my typography, I did not choose curly 'feminine' fonts, I chose big bold or rugged fonts as this would be more associated wit males therefore linking back to my social group. My final point would be to pick up on my chosen colour scheme. I chose mostly red's and black as this a popular colour choice amongst clothing worn by the teenage social group. They would find this attractive to look at on the front of the magazine as they are able to associate themselves with it.
