In the beginning of this pre-sessional academic course, it was evident that identifying reliable sources was a core point for me since this plays a major role in academic reading and writing for UK universities and I can acquire valuable information from NELSON and Google Scholar. In addition, during the process of reading academic articles for the reading blogs and writing task, I understood the significance of evaluation (being critical) , paraphrasing and referencing. To make it more specific, you cannot show your perspectives without any evidence and you can link essays with your experience for the evaluation as well. In addition, when you use citations in your report, you should demonstrate these ideas in your own words and reference correctly. Plus, I grasped that it is vital to pay more attention to the structure of paragraphs including topic sentence , supporting ideas and concluding sentence. Moreover, grammar mistakes should be avoided. Overall, we should let our writing become more cohesive and coherent by using academic reporting verbs.
