I think, to make abstract mathematical concepts more relatable and engaging for intermediate learners by integrating them into real-life situations. For example, when teaching solving problems in percentages and decimals, we can relate the concepts to daily expenses at a supermarket or fast food chain. By this way, it helps students connect the lesson to something they experience and can easily understand. And also, incorporating hands-on activities can further engage students and make the learning more interactive.

Or maybe we could tell stories with math problems to make them interesting, or other manipulatives that can encourage them to participate in some activities. Working together and talking about, helps us understand better. And if math was more like that, it wouldn't be so hard.

To make the abstract mathematical concepts more relatable and engaging for intermediate students, personally we can use a combination of strategies that connect math to tangible experiences and foster curiosity. Starting with physical manipulatives like blocks or coins to explore concepts, followed by visual representations such as diagrams and finally transitioning to abstract symbols and equations. Additionally, leveraging technology and visual aids, such as apps or interactive models, helps students visualize complex ideas and build deeper understanding. By blending hands-on learning with creative problem-solving scenarios, students can see the practical applications of math and develop a stronger connection to abstract concepts.

To make abstract mathematical concepts more relatable and engaging for intermediate learners, we, as future educators, have the power to change their minds that the mathematics subject can be more fun, creative, and engaging. Because when students see how math applies to the real world, their interest and comprehension naturally increase. Some effective strategies to make abstract math more relatable and engaging, like math games, include incorporating a game-based activity; it can engage your students to learn basic math facts and socio-emotional skills. Also, a hands-on approach in the math classroom means finding real-life examples of formulas and concepts or including student interests in relevant work problems.
