         <description><![CDATA[<p>In this work, we investigate how a particular type of neuron in the cortex, parvalbumin interneurons, regulate plasticity. We find that parvalbumin interneuron activity changes when sensory input changes and that changes in parvalbumin interneuron activity can dramatically affect the activity of other types of neurons in the cortex. We also found that after a stroke, parvalbumin interneuron activity is reduced. Our results suggest that targeting parvalbumin interneurons might be a therapeutic strategy for increasing plasticity in the brain after injury.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Small Molecule Enhancer of Secreted Clusterin Promotes Mitochondrial Function, Synaptic Plasticity and Improved Memory in an Alzheimer&#39;s Disease Mouse Model</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Secreted clusterin (sCLU), a protective isoform of the Alzheimer’s risk gene CLU, helps clear amyloid and tau, reduces oxidative stress, and modulates immunity. Our lab developed DDL-357, a brain-penetrant BET inhibitor that strongly boosts sCLU expression. In Alzheimer’s mouse models, DDL-357 improved memory, increased sCLU, and reduced phosphorylated tau. Proteomics showed activation of pathways for mitochondria, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal growth, with similar benefits seen in human iPSC-derived neurons. These results support sCLU enhancement by DDL-357 as a promising therapeutic strategy to protect synapses and slow dementia progression.</p>]]></description>
