This article supplemented my knowledge of milieu by understanding the environment you are teaching in and utilizing the technologies that many students have access to. Many rural education schools have access to WiFi at home, computers at their disposal, and even have cell phones. This helped me think through technology, teaching, and learning by thoroughly understanding the social context I am in and making the most of what can be used. Some students may not have the access at home as they do in school so immersing the students in this technological world that we are growing up in is essential even if it is in the smallest ways. This helped me because it allowed me to be able to dissect my lesson plans by looking at the social context, environment, and history in sharing experiences among peers. This helped deepen my understanding because specifically of the second idea of trade offs. With my subject being mathematics it often becomes a lot of written work, but this idea of trade offs helped deepen my understanding of how to know when to use technology and when it is best not to. In addition, also knowing when it is supplementing the content of mathematics, or if it is taking away from it.
