I believe by formative assessment we can understand students learning outcome from an individual class and summative assessment means after completing full chapter or combination of some chapters we teachers assess students about their knowlege on those topics. For summative assessment by including 1-2 question we can easily find outstanding students or passionate learning students.

According to me, summative assessments are given periodically to determine at a particular point in time what students know and do not know. Summative assessment at the classroom level is an accountability measure that is generally used as part of the grading process.

Whereas formative assessment is part of the instructional process. Formative assessment provides the information needed to adjust teaching and learning while they are happening. In this sense, formative assessment informs both teachers and students about students' understanding at a point when timely adjustments can be made. In formative assessment grading can be used for encouraging student’s progress.

Formative assessment is the process of learning, how many ways learning happens. It's a way of identifying learners' strengths and weaknesses. It might be peer checking, project work, presentation, multiple-choice question answer. In that way, we can assess their needs. Summative assessment is what the learner has learned at the end after completing the entire lesson.
