Back more than a couple decades ago the peregrine falcons in the united states were listed as an endangered species because of pesticides called DDT. DDT harmed the peregrines by causing their eggshells to be dangerously thin. They were so Fragile that they broke when the parents tried to incubate them.

Even though the Peregrine Falcon does not have many predators to worry about many other animals have to worry about him because the peregrine is a carnivore which means that he feeds on flesh. The Peregrine Falcon eats other bids, such as, songbirds, ducks and even bats. They also eat starlings, pigeons and doves.

When it is time for the falcons to lay their eggs they make a return trip north and lay their babies. A female falcon lays two to four eggs at a time. The parents incubate the eggs for about a month until the eggs hatch and the chicks stay in the nest for up to six weeks by which time they've learned to fly. Peregrine falcons are very territorial during mating and breeding season and will vigorously defend their nests until the chicks have grown up enough to leave. By the time the chicks leave the nest they are already a couple of month old and the falcons will usually live a lifespan of 17 year and during that time they would have already had chicks of their own.

While the Peregrine falcons are about to strike their pray they always have a couple Technics to make sure their stomach is always full and that they stay alive and healthy. They mostly strike in midair with its wings outstretched and it talons and claws out and ready to attack. Since the peregrine falcons are very fast and are one of the fastest birds in the world they usually hunt with either a swift chase or a fast dive. One thing to add about the falcons is that they have a dive at 200 mph which means that hunting fr them is quick and easy. Not only does the bird strike in midair but also catch their pray in midair because most of the animals they eat are birds or able to fly.
