He had memorized the bible and had a problem with the catholic church and their indulgences. 
the Catholic church was close to executing him
They didn't execute him because the word was out and people would still think that way even of he was dead
He believed that the catholic church has no divine power

There was someone in town selling indulgences and he wasn't happy about it
The 95 thesis were 95 verses from the bible that contradicted what the Catholic church taught.
He nailed the paper to the church door or else he nailed them to an archbishop or possibly both
He was told that "a single friar that goes against the church is wrong"
He was charged with heresy and didn't take what he said back


Breaking news: The Bible is now printed in German and now any person that could read German can read the bible
People can now quote scripture and discuss its meaning 
This leads to many different denominations  of Christianity
