Because my group is small, I will be able to hear myself better and fix my mistakes accordingly. In addition to listening to and fixing my mistakes, I will also be able to improve on playing without a conductor. We are still sight reading some pieces since we are focusing our attention on our harder pieces such as Symphony No. 25 and certain parts of Pirates of the Caribbean. We have definitely had some rough spots where we are off a measure or two or when our intonation needs much improvement. Overall, we are all listening to each other while we are playing and are getting used to having to conduct ourselves. I learned more than I did last year about how to conduct as a group and how to listen and adjust my playing to be able to hear all of the instruments. I worked with great musicians and great people, and that made this whole experience even more fun. We had fun and got work done and ended up sounding great. If I could improve one thing it would be to balance out how long we spent practicing each piece because I found that some pieces were better practiced than others.
