Exciting and beautiful (read exhausting) climb up to this place from Ghangharia, where there is a beautiful glacial lake-Hemkund. I had ZERO plans of taking a dip in the lake in freezing temperatures when a really warm Sikh man convinced me to take a dip and gave me a towel because I didn't have one. A wonderful experience :') (although I took only 2 steps in and froze like a cartoon 🥶🤫) 
The Gurudwara is open for visits starting in May till ~October (when the winter settles in and the lake freezes up). I visted the region in July 2017 while on a trek... Once there, you are free to roam about the valley as you wish. There is no definite path or maps. Hope to find a local guard and follow him to the end of the valley. 1- Former CM of Delhi Sheila Dikshit 
2- Former Governor of Karnataka HR Bhardwaj 
3- Former Director General of the NCC Lt.Gen.Anirudhha Chakravarty
4- Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh-A once in a life time opportunity to meet and perform for the highest ranked officer in all of the Indian Armed forces at the time. The man was about 93 years old when he stood upright and delivered a speech to 1500 cadets. An inspiration :') 
5 & 6- The former President of India Smt.Pratibha Patil - Had a chance to perform at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. It was an office trip to Tamilnadu and I was not supposed to be a part of it. The stubborn, 9 year old me, shed enough tears to convince Dad to take me along. This morning in Kanyakumari, I remember Papa woke me up at dawn and literally dragged me to the terrace of our hotel to watch the sunrise. As the first rays hit , I was amazed to distinctly see 3 different shades of water, each of Arabian sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal. To read in Geography text books about the tip of Indian mainland is one thing, but to experience it was exhilarating. But guess what...we did..in Himachal!
The first time I spoke to Raj, just to explain to him a requirement, we connected over treks and travel and became instant buds. We made a hypothetical plan that someday, we will work from mountains and go on treks. When I took the leap of coming to Himachal for months, Raj felt enough FOMO to adapt the plan! 
Right after he was here, we decided to turn our hypothetical plan into reality.
We utilized the long weekend and headed to Kalga. The evening was full of fun and food.
He surprised us with some amazing card tricks and a song recorded by him over Ukelele. Pretty Multi-talented I must say! 
On Dussera, we did the 14 km Kheerganga trek! Look how he planned to go all 'Durga' on me! :D

The entire family has divided roles and responsibilities to make the grand day a big success. 

So this Diwali, while my 'Sasural' was getting white washed, along with the 'Call' of duty, I took the responsibility of cooking on a 30 year old electric heater because the kitchen was not usable :D
