<span>�</span>Melanie, now 17, has always been
considered a little overweight ever since she was a little girl and has always
been told by her parents that the extra pounds were just
"baby-weight".&nbsp; She has always struggled with body image and
eating healthy especially since there are some kids at school who call her
names because of her extra weight and bad eating habits and the cafeteria
rarely cooks healthy meals.&nbsp; Melanie has decided she would like to start
working out and eat healthier.&nbsp;
She has a plan for this afternoon: she is going to sign up for a gym membership
with a friend and then go to the mall to buy a healthy eating recipe book.

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Melanie is in the preparation stage of behavior change for healthy eating because she has decided to eat healthier but she has not done it yet. She is in the preparation stage for physical activity because she has decided to get in shape but is not doing it yet. She is in the precontemplation stage for self-concept because she is not thinking of improving her self-concept. </p><p>I would place Melanie at poor for overall vitality on the health continuum because currently she has poor eating habits, poor&nbsp;physical activity habits, and a poor self-concept.</p>]]></description>
