 This will enhance the sound quality by capturing more sound waves and directing them towards a single narrow point. 
A greater number of sound waves in one area would result in a more amplified sound. By using the cone shape no sound waves are lost. 

A slot will be cut out in the main body of the speaker for the phone to go in and the phone speakers  will be pointed down into the cone shape. - cardboard is light in weight  allowing easy portability.
-plastic is waterproof protecting the speaker from water damage.

-both plastic and cardboard are recycled materials so the speaker is environmentally friendly.
