We discussed ways children help at home and in the community and explored programs and organizations that support those in need. In connection with our class book, we also learned about food waste, how to reduce it, and the impact organizations like Leket Israel have in helping those in need. Leket Israel rescues and redistributes surplus food to 175,000 people each week, making a significant difference in communities across the country.

To put our learning into action, at the end of March, our 6th-grade class went on a field trip to Leket Israel to volunteer and help pick fresh vegetables for distribution to families in need. This hands-on experience allowed students to contribute meaningfully, understand the importance of reducing food waste, and see firsthand how small actions can have a big impact.

The students in our school made food packages for poor families in the village. They worked together to collect food, pack the packages, and give them to the families.

Each package had important food like rice, sugar, oil, and canned food. The families were very happy and thankful.

This project helped the families, and it also helped the students learn to care and help others.
