“By mid-morning, I was out the door and racing down the street, my sneakers were pounding against the pavement. I met up with my best friends at the time,  at a huge meadow where was a big oak tree. We hammered and sawed,  drowning in sweat but still having fun. By midday, the basic structure was in place but we still had a lot of work to do. Me and the boys continued our work. As the day turned to dusk, we finally stepped back to admire their creation. The treehouse wasn’t perfect—there were crooked nails and uneven boards—but to us, it was a masterpiece. “Let’s christen it,”  one friend suggested, we carved their initials into one of the beams, sealing our bond of friendship in wood.” -  “Unfortunately we aren’t close friends anymore since it was in middle school. But remembering these sweet memories makes me happy.”

My name is Gabrijela. I am 16 years old. I live in Kračevac with my mom, dad and 2 sisters. My favorite subject is biology.

First, she taught me the value of kindness. Her home was always open, offering comfort and support to anyone in need. This instilled in me the importance of small, selfless acts of kindness.

Second, she showed me resilience. Despite facing significant hardships, she remained strong and graceful, teaching me that challenges are opportunities for growth and strength.

Finally, she inspired a love for learning. Her curiosity and eagerness to explore new ideas sparked my own passion for knowledge.

These lessons from my grandmother continue to guide and influence my life.
