- Cropping systems – efficiencies? 
     - Some portion may need to be even aged… but having diversity of approaches across the landscape is likely better
- To answer this we would do simulations of the risks – how do you want to manage the risks… as in your retirement portfolio Your risks may change as you get closer to retirement age… (or whatever your goal is)
- How do we create incentives to have different approaches to forestry?

- What do rural communities need to be able to get more support to “live off the land” – nature tourism, small-scale forestry, low-intensive management
-        What’s the economics of it? 
-        Can we build stronger rural communities?
-        Need to define “less intensive management”
-        Be careful about suggesting alternative markets – e.g. for new birch production.
o   The alternative markets are there and should be used
o   Need to include the industry
o   But the small-scale forest owners are more at the limit and may need help (or are they? which lead to our next question)
