I began as a teacher's aid, then as a one-to-one for a child with severe autism. I enjoyed my time at the Help Group and learned a lot of valuable information, but I longed to work in an inclusive setting where I could work with children that had special needs and typical developing children. I accepted a position an Early Interventionist at Step by Step EduPlay Center in Santa Monica. I worked at Step by Step for about three years, until I decided to move to the Bay Area in 2015. As soon as I moved to the bay I was hired as Preschool Teacher at Compass Children's Center, a preschool center in downtown San Francisco's Tenderloin community. We are a mixed aged preschool center that serves homeless and low income families. It can be both challenging and rewarding being a preschool teacher, but I wouldn't have it any other way. At times working full-time has made my educational goals hard to attain. I hope to continue to build and evolve my praxis through an intersectional and critical lens. On my free time I enjoy cooking, hiking, hanging out with my dogs, reading sci-fi novels, and collecting crystals and plants.
