My first leadership goal is to enhance my emotional intelligence skill in the workplace. Leading a team to achieve a goal is harder than individual work. People need to contact with each other, as everyone is important in a team. According to Daft (2011) “a person’s abilities to perceive, identify, understand, and successfully manage emotions in self and others.” (pp.146) Thus, as a leader, not only do you need to realize everyone’s feelings when employees work with each other but also I need to control my own negative emotions in front of employees. According to Daft (2011) “people’s moods and various aspects of their performance, such as teamwork, creativity, decision making, and task performance.” (pp.149) People who work with negative emotions will affect the working performance and relationship with other people. Thus, a high level of emotional intelligence can help us to manage effectively.

My first action plan is to bring caring respect to the workplace with my employees. According to Daft (2011) “Leaders should also remember that love is more than a feeling; to be a real force, it is translated into behavior.” (pp.156)As a leader, I would listen to my employees’ opinions rather than only seeing in my way. One person’s idea maybe smaller but group cooperation will collect everyone’s ideas that will make it easier to achieve a goal. I would care about their personal issues outside the workplace that may help to build a better relationship. Love behavior could make me understand my employees’ ideas or problems. When employees may do something wrong I would temper my emotions to treat my employees more respectfully.
My second action plan is to understand my employees’ mental conduct. Everyone has different ways to think about an issue. As a leader, I should lead my employees always using positive ways to address a problem. I should train myself to use more positive ways to treat an issue. When they make a mistake, I will give them an opportunity to prove they have already learned from their previous mistakes. I will stay with my employees in the workplace and if they have any problem I can help them to grow and learn. This action plan will let employees and management work together as a team to have positive outlooks to deal with problems that may arise in the workplace.

My second leadership goal is leading my team with changes. According to Daft (2011) “It is the job of the leader to make sure organizations change as needed to respond to threats, opportunities, or shifts in the environment.” (pp.462) As a leader, and according to Daft (2011) “to help people see the need for change and buy into a new way of doing things.” (pp.462) Change is not easy in a group of people and leaders need to become a role model during and after the changes.

My first action plan is to gain more knowledge to control my reactions to many different conditions as they may arise. As a leader, I should have the knowledge to address changes and also assume responsibilities. I need to learn from other organizational experiences. Based on their experience and mistakes, I should have my own blueprint to find a positive and suitable way for my employees. I should be humble and listen to other people’s ideas that may also help me to expand my views. I also need to encourage my employees to provide additional knowledge because we are a team and as such we should help each other to have a common same goal that will be easier to manage. By having enough knowledge and experience then I can have the courage to lead my employees to changes when necessary.
My second action plan has a clear vision of how my team operates together. According to Daft (2011) "One significant problem is that most people have a natural tendency to resist change." (pp. 463)However, as a leader, when I lead my team to face external threats and new opportunities I will have a very clear vision for my employees and to direct them properly. I need to let my employees know I have the ability to lead them successfully and foster them to have the ability to take risks for the organization and be creative for the change.
