Levels of the antibody immunoglobin A, the immune system's first line
of defense, were higher in those who listened to music. Volunteers who
played a percussion instrument along with the music also benefited from
the immune boost. The researchers, from Sussex University in Britain and
the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig, Germany, say their findings demonstrate how music could be used to help aid patients' recovery while
in hospital.

Scientists found that after listening to just
50 minutes of uplifting dance music, the levels of antibodies in
volunteers' bodies increased.

Listening to happy music makes you less stressed than a random amount of notes in a random order.

Listening to music was better than prescription medications in reducing stress before surgery.

Listening to music reduced levels of Cortisol in the body. Cortisol is a stress hormone that has many physiological effects, one of which has a role in promoting obesity.

The study was led by Dr Ronny Enk, a neurocognition expert at the Max
Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig. He stated "We think the pleasant state that can be induced by music leads to special physiological changes which eventually lead to stress reduction or direct immune enhancement. Stress reduction probably plays an important role, but the stress reducing effect seems to be different for various types of music."

Music helps children achieve higher academic results.

Music has proven to give students a better chance at learning.

Science has shown that when children learn to play music, their brains
begin to hear and process sounds that they couldn’t otherwise hear.

The study showed that students who played instruments in class had more improved neural processing than the children who attended the music
appreciation group.

Children who not only regularly attended music classes, but also
actively participated in the class, showed larger improvements in how
the brain processes speech and reading scores than their less-involved peers.

Music helps speech perception, the ability to understand emotions in the voice and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

When we listen to a rhythm, our heart actually begins to sync with
it. A slow heartbeat with a strong diastolic pressure tells our brain that something sad or depressing is occurring. Very fast beating is obviously related to excitement, where as a dreamy rhythm with occasional upbeats can signify love or joy. Although researchers have not found out how much music is enough for a mood change.

If you like rock and punk music it can change you mood to be happier.

Classic music can make you feel calm and relaxed.

If you think think that you are too relaxed heavy metal music can make you mad.

Actively learning to play an instrument can help a child's academic achievement

Music has played an important part of every human culture, both past and present.

Science has now proven what music lovers already know, that listening to upbeat music can improve your mood. Listening and playing music reduces chronic stress by lowering the stress hormone cortisol. Music can make you feel more hopeful, powerful, and in control of your life. And listening to sad music has its benefits, too.
If you are going through a tough time, listening to sad music is.
cathartic; it can help you get in touch with those emotions to help heal them.
