This robot, Tengai, can create a more fair interview as it is unbiased and it allows more people to work. However, since it is a robot, there may be bugs and unexpected circumstances that can occur, so the developers of this robot will have to look into that in order to prevent these bugs from occurring. Some people may not be comfortable with this change as it is a robot, which most people are not used to. You never know if someone is monitoring you through the eyes of the robot or even the audio in order to judge whether they get the job or not.


Tengai will most likely be plugged into the wall, which will use quite a bit of electricity. This means that electricity costs will go up for the company that uses Tengai.

This could be the start of a new generation, where modern day devices such as keyboards and mice may no longer be available in the future, and everything will just be voice activated or something similar to it.

Looking at it from my perspective, I don't think that this will go well for some people. This is because of the robot's appearance, which is again, caused by how quickly we judge things. Therefore, this creates a fair system that will give people a better chance of getting a job. Furthermore, Tengai, by contrast, doesn't engage in pre-interview chit-chat and poses all questions in an identical way, in the same tone, and typically, in the same order. This is thought to create a fairer and more objective interview. However, some people may disagree as they may not trust the technology. This robot can help reduce the percentage of discrimination however experts also have their concerns.
One of the main drawback to Tengai is that it doesn't make the final decision on the employment process but instead sends an interview transcript to the manager who then makes a decision if that candidate  goes to the next round of interviews so therefore the manager still has a hand in the interviewing process. In addition to this the company behind Tengai haven't had to deal with an concerns such as a data breach or malware that has been implemented into the robot.

The use of Tengai will stop biases in the interview process. This will lead to a fair interview and comparison of candidates so that the most qualified and most skilled person will get the job. Not only will Tangai stop discrimination from interviewers but it will also automate the process making the interview and hiring process faster and more streamlined. 

Tangai is an amazing development in the field of robotics and AI development which is aimed to reduce discrimination in the interview process but however the creators of Tangai intend for the robot to be used the end-users/employers can always change that. End-users/employers could change how Tangai operates and use this to avoid hiring people that they deem unfit for the role and hide it even better then they already are.

Overall as long as the creators of Tangai stop people being able to change how the robot functions it should be a success for what they are setting out for and I believe it will be popular with employers if it can automate the interview process as it would save the business valuable time.  

Some businesses already use humanlike robots in replacement of people the biggest one is a Japanese hotel called Henn Na Hotel that has a robotic receptionist. Here is an article taking about it:
