Throughout this course, I have never stopped
learning something new every day. I have learned
how to explain actions, thoughts, and basic
every day expressions and all in a different
language which is thrilling! I can describe people
such as my family, explain things that were done
in the past, and even talk about chores and foods.

Differences I see between Spanish and English:

I have had a funny time with this course complaining
to my family or sister about how different Spanish is
from English so I can say a few things I have ranted
about. (This in no way means I dislike Spanish, I love it!)
Spanish has a different alphabet and adding in the
accents to certain words always felt like a hassle to me.
The thought "Is this word supposed to have an accent?"
was always in my mind during writing assignments. I have
always been told I have been very good at speaking Spanish
but it is hard to make sure you are accentuating a certain
sound in a word and to pick apart different sounds so in
speaking assignments, I had to always make sure I was
saying something with an accent correctly. Another thing
that made my rant at the dinner table was conjugating in
the past, present, and imperfect. This was definitely a new
concept for me. It is a very tedious task to make sure you
are conjugating in the correct tense which isn't as flexible
as it is in English. I have always been aware of the grammar
differences between English and Spanish such as object
pronouns being attached to verbs and etc. Also the way
Spanish describes things is different. Spanish puts the
adjective after the noun. Sentences that contain a question
and capitalization is also very different. I could go on and
on talking about the little things that make both of these
languages so unique and special but I believe I have named
most of the main differences and I am happy that I learned
that through this course.

One of my favorite things about this course was to
have the opportunity to explore the Spanish culture
and with the internet at my fingertips, it helped me
expand my horizons. I find so many things very
intriguing about the Spanish culture such as their
laid back lifestyle and schedule, they're architecture,
history, and the types of foods and stores. It is
just overall interesting to learn how people live
their lives and compare it with yours because what
is normal for other countries isn't always particularly
normal in your country/culture.

Essay:

Durante mi estancia en España, aprendí un montón de
cosas. Me gustó mi familia anfitriona.
