Reyna Grande and her family were born in Mexico with little to no money and had no option but to move to America for a chance to live their life and try and get out of poverty. In this chapter Reyna Grande became the first person to graduate college at UCSC and earned a BA in creative writing and college honors. This chapter relates to my thesis because it shows even coming out of poverty with nothing you can still achieve your American Dream no matter what obstacles stand in your way. This shows that there are still millions of people today working for their dream meaning it is still alive and well. Another example shows that many people believe that wealth is not all the American Dream is about its about living your life and spending it with the people you love the most.
