Effect of the Lack of Daily Necessities for UMP Pekan’s Student by ikhmal fikri

Every day we use things to do our work. We as UMP students mostly searching their things at grocery store in Kolej Kediaman 5. In UMP Pekan, we only have one grocery store and not enough goods on sale. It will cause trouble to students because UMP Pekan located far from the Pekan city. So imagine if we need something important, then the grocery does not sold the things we need.

Let’s say we need some biscuits for our breakfast and supper. If we late to wake up early, we have biscuit for our short breakfast. Our cafeteria likely to closed early. Sometimes we have no time to take our dinner. Then we just need biscuits to avoid starvation in the night. Then our grocery store does not selling it. If we have an assignment to be done, most fully students will get starved. Then shall we eat junk food that will damage our brain slowly and affect our health?

See the price! It’s expensive and not suitable for students. I’ve done some research that one bath soap only cost 70 cent. In that price, students will get full by eating at cafeteria other than buy soap. Not all students in UMP from a rich family. They do saving day by day. We did not mean they cannot afford to buy this soap, but this is price for soap. Other things? Like toothpaste. One toothpaste in our grocery store cost RM9.80 which is expensive. In our research, one toothpaste just cost RM6.50 ONLY. There is no facewash on sale in our grocery store. With no such things and expensive price, it will increase our burden as student.

Is this stuff important for us as student? Maybe need for some reason but mostly no needed for us. It’s better grocery owner focus for other important stuff to be sale. If lighter is missuses, it will cause fire burning in our hostel. It is good when our grocery store sell files and other stationery for doing our assignments. So the ownerjust being waste sells unuseful things in their grocery store.

As conclusion, our grocery store must be fully upgraded by selling more important thing with suitable price. They must be more cautious about student’s need. Selling unuseful things is just a waste. We hope in a short time, our grocery store will be upgraded to facilitate student’s daily lives.
