At the beginning of this school year, our ESS teacher organized a mini Water Forum inspired by the Water Forum that took place in Brazil this year. For the activity, students were assigned the different countries that participated in the actual Forum. They researched about their assigned country and they also learned about the structure of the Forum. They had 3 sessions and modeled work groups. They used English to prepare, discuss, and present their conclusions. This time around the event was opened only for the high school students and pedagogical team. Inspired by the impact the event had on our school community, I am thinking of a possible event opened to a larger community of English speakers here in Sao Paulo such as other educational institutions, with the purpose to foster awareness about the important topic of water and empower young people to become agents of change.
