1) Only an officer (in military) were accessable to wear crested helmet, I thought this was very interesting because I believed that all warriors would wear the same attire back then.
2) Woman would play a game called "Knuckle Bones" using sheep's ankle bones, this fact made me ponder how they would be able to clean and access the bones besides from killing the sheep.
3) Athenian woman were prohibited from going to school, this gave me an idea that woman education was also objected from other areas in the world.
4) What really surprised me was that male children had to participate in war at a young age, easily getting injured, but of course was given training beforehand.
5) It took several city-states to defeat the Persian, this made me relate to Germany because how strong and powerful their government was, also that it took several countries, such as the US, to conquer over them.
6) I find it nonsense but very interesting that woman are expected to be nearly as tough as men, despite emotions and how much strength they are capable of having.
7) Relating to Fact 6, it is also strange that woman are trained to defend for their home while men are at war, although, it gives them a strong and brave reputation.
8) Sparta's had a very complex/unique government, making their government very classified and officiant.
9) Spartans carried lifeless warriors on a shield carried on their back instead of disposing the bodies or burying them.
10) Since the Spartans wanted to become a powerful nation, family was not considered a priority

1. I think it as interesting that they made the people from conquered countries slaves
2. I think it is interesting that they had a three-part government, with two kings and and 5 elected supervisors, and 3 elders who made laws
3. I like how citizens train constantly to be soldiers
4. They sent boys as young as 7 into barracks to learn military skills, discipline, and strength
5. I think it is strange that the boys hardly learn to read
6. It is weird how women are meant to be tough physically, as well as men
7. I also think it is interesting how the women are trained, and can defend their own homes
8. I think it is interesting how dead soldiers are carried back on their shields
9. It is cool how they have two government groups, one which takes care of normal things, the other with bigger problems
10. I love how the women are strong and can take care of a family by themselves, and how they have important jobs, too.

This lesson was very interesting, something's that I found interesting are:
1. Boys started experiencing military life at the small age of seven.
2. There was more than one king that ruled (2) that ruled the land Sparta.
3. They had a very complex form of government, that has (2) main bodies.
4. Unlike most other nations, Athenian women were expected to be as strong as men.
5. Women were also expected to defend the land of their husbands while they were out at war. This shows how strong they must be.
6. Dead soldiers were carried on the back shields of their comrades.
7. Sparta was such a powerful and strong nation, that they didn't value family.
8. I was surprised at how much of a difference the two nations (Sparta and Athens) had. Mainly their government and how they treated their people.
9. Athens was able to recover extremely well from the war with Persia, it made them stronger than they were before.
10. Even though Athens was very fair with their women and how they treat them, women were not premitted to go to school. These made me think of Malala and how other girls in Pakistan and around the world aren't permitted to go to school now. This made me wonder if the still aren't allowed to go to school.

I hop you enjoy my 10 facts
(1) at age seven boys worked in barracks to learn disciplines, duty, strength, and military skill. They Worked in the military from age 20 to 60. The Spartans had a very strong army and were ready for anything.

(2) boys from wealthy families learned to be prepared to be good citizens. They did athletics, reading, writing, poetry, arithmetic, and music. They had alot to learn at the ages of 6 to 7

(3) women had a intestine part in spartan soceity. Their jobs were to learn athletics and learn to protect themselves. Women had much freedom but they wouldn't see their husbands for awhile from them being at war or training in the barracks.

(4) Athens government and society makes up people's part in the city. There is solon reforms which they organize people into 4 classes from people's income. There is the foreigners, women, children, and slaves which slaves are not citizens.

(5) Things about women in Athen is that they expect to be good house wives and keep society strong. Women are very religious in athen but Athenian women don't get that much freedom than spartan women. Girls could not go to school. They couldn't inherit land unless their father had no sons.

(6) the Persian wars had Persia conquer alot of places like Asia and Anatolia...but athen helped out with the war and had a the Greece and athen hada great army.

(7) Sparta conquered land where the defeated people were name slaves to the spartas and were called helots.

(8) Athena was a goddess and she was often wearing a helmet and was known to give advice to warriors and is a very brave warrior. (Caption)pg378

(9) Also another thing with the Persian war that was very interesting was that athenian warriors had out smarted Persia warriors. The Athenians were still out numbered with their enormous army that while the Persian army went into the center the Greeks attacked them in the center and the Greeks weapons were very effective in the battle. While the Greeks list only 192 warriors, the Persians lost about 6,400 warriors. That's a big ratio and that each warrior of a Greek is about 33.3333 Persia warrior. It's very interesting that the Greeks had a very genius idea to out smart the Persian.

(10) My last detail that was very interesting to me was then again another battle about the Greece war. The Greece war had the Persia attack again but this time some Greece city's joined the Persia. Spartans guarded the Thermopylae but were then all killed to then have the athenians be prepared for battle. The battle took place on a body of water with boats and the athianians boats were small but took out 300 persias ships then the war came to a end. What intrest me about the war was that the Persias came back with power letting the athenians Greece people that they want to fight. Then again they lost but they really showed that they are ready for a battle with them.

1. So I know, this probably to some of you, this might not seem like such an interesting fact, yet Sparta: That reminded me of the word Spartan. Now when I think of Spartans I think of Warriors and when I was reading through the lesson I saw that they seemed like the kind of people who conquered other people and felt like they had a sense of authority and that just was sort of interesting because it showed that the Spartans were shown as Authoritive.
2. Three social groups made up Spartan society. Now that particularly interested me because that reminded me of India's castes.
3. Their education stressed discipline, duty, strength, and military skill. The boys learned to read just enough to get by. Now it also says that the goal of Spartan society was to have a strong army. Now this interested me because we obviously hear a lot about Malala Yousfzai standing up for girls education, but when you read this you see that boys were denied a right to an education because they wanted brawns over brains, but the girls had the worst time it seems.
4. Athenians expected women to be good wives and mothers. Have any of you ever seen my Big Fat Greek Wedding? I have! It one of my favorite movies! It's about a woman named Fortoula. She isn't married. And her father expects her to be. That is so unfair because it literally dictates the women's lives!
5. Ive actually heard of the story of the marathon. So I have some background knowledge on it. I know that like the text said, a Spartan ran 26 miles to a place called Marathon. 26.2 miles now equal the distance of a marathon.
6. The Spartans forced the people who they defeated to become slaves.
7. The Council of Elders made up of 30 older citizens, proposed laws. Now I think this is sort of strange because if they were supposedly to make important decisions why wouldn't they choose young people instead of older people who could have dimentia, and other health issues?
8. Sparta had a government that was part monarchy, part oligarchy, and part democracy.
9. Women could inherit property only if their fathers had no sons. Girls did not attend school. They learned household duties from their mothers. A few learned to read and write.
10. Spartan society expected women to be tough emotionally and physically. I think that's interesting because I feel like it's contradicting two ideas of women not going to school, being mothers and wives, but then being expected to be really tough.
