I would count this as all the time leading up to the data collection, ranging all the way from the moment I decided on the research topic to the very instant before the first resident stepped into the interview room at the Home. This whole period of time filled me with excitement, but also apprehension at the uncertainty of what lay ahead. I’m ever so grateful for your multiple rounds of effective comments on the methods of data collection that could be considered, including the mix of quantitative and qualitative methods which were adopted in the end.

What followed was the climax - the data collection and analysis. Thank you for spending so much time on the first day of the surveys and interviews to provide guidance on the most suitable ways to communicate with the residents, and thank you for your suggestions when I felt overwhelmed by the large amounts of data that had to be analysed. I found it a lot easier to approach the data when I could envision how I wanted the final research paper to turn out.

Finally, it is now the downward journey - the acceleration towards the end of HSSRP. I won’t say much about it yet, because there’s still three more important events to come!

In conclusion, I really appreciate the time you took out of your schedule to provide detailed feedback again and again and again. The feedback was always sharp and extremely clear in a way that left me with loads of inspiration and ideas on how I could continue improving. I cannot imagine how the research paper would have turned out without your constant guidance and encouragement throughout every part of my HSSRP journey.

Regards, Kimberly (*¯︶¯*)

Dear Professor Hoe,

I am extremely grateful for the unlimited amounts of patience you have given to me and the project throughout the year. Your advice and insights on the topic has opened many windows for me and given me much knowledge on the topic of arts. Your feedback, advice and questions that were although tough to answer had helped me grow and mature my mindset in the arts, I could not have continued on with this programme without your mentoring and the writing of the research paper would not have been possible. Thank you so much for your time and dedication!

Your sincerely,

Clarice Lin (Dunman High School)

Dear Professor Steven,

We would like to most sincerely thank you for the guidance you have provided throughout our project; generously imparting your multitude of experience and knowledge onto us as well as taking the time to ensure our work is of quality. Thank you for helping us embark on our journeys in the field of Philosophy, for helping to spark our curiosity and develop it across the span of the past year! Over this HSSRP process we have been able to see ourselves grow as thinkers and learners of Philosophy as a Humanities subject, with you to thank for shaping us as your mentees from square one. With that said, we hope you have enjoyed having us as your mentees as much as we have appreciated this opportunity to be mentored by you. Have a great rest of the year :)

Yours sincerely,

Samuel, Yuantian and Cordelia
