Over the summer during the pandemic,I started hiking and climbing with my sisters.They are the reason I started climbing and hiking in the first place. So far, in my journey I have only gone to two places. The first place I went to was Eaton Canyon Fall which was in Los Angeles. I would often go there whenever I had time and I plan to go to different places. It's something I have grown fond of ever since I went, it's fun and interesting.

After hiking or climbing each time, I felt relaxed, peaceful, and happier. Hiking or climbing can be a way to disconnect from some of the problems of the world. My quality of life was better spending time in nature. Being in the forest can help me to achieve serenity. Being outdoors hiking or climbing can clear my mind therefore, giving me a chance to observe the world around me.

In my point of view, some benefits from hiking or climbing are that it’s very helpful to release endorphins therefore, relieving stress. It helps build up your endurance and overall health. Hiking with someone can build up your overall relationship bond.

Chris wasn’t really prepared for the trip. Gallien give his old pair of rubber work boots and persuaded (p.7) to make him take it, which would keep him warm and dry while traveling to Alaska. Gallein did his best to give him supplies that might be useful during his trip.One thing that Gallien did was to give his phone number (p.7) to Alex,which Alex carefully put it in his nylon wallet. Alex insisted (p.6)on giving everything that he owned to Gallein because it seemed that he wanted to start a new life where he wanted to do everything on his own.

Analysis: In my point of view, I do admire Chris because he’s pursuing his dream that he has been wanting to do in his life. My only suggestion that Chris could have done differently would be having supplies that he needed in order to survive during his trip. At the beginning,Chris seemed confident heading to Alaska but it turns out he wasn’t ready from the beginning.I was thinking about how Chris would be if he listened to Gallien advice.

It talks about Samuel and Swanson finally arriving where the bus has been for a long time. During Chris’s journey, the troops came and took his body. Samuel and Swanson had noticed a smell seemed off to them and once they were near the bus. They magically saw a disquieting (p.12) note that was written by Christopher Johnson McCandless, which was the last words that he wrote in the letter before dying. They didn’t know what was inside the bus, but Samuel decided to take a look for himself and see what was happening on the bus. He peeked inside of the window and saw that there were many supplies which the sleeping bag seemed to appeared (p.12) to someone or something inside but wasn't sure what it was. Once Samuel saw a head sticking out of the bag and he magically saw Chris had died about two and half weeks after being on the bus. (p.13) Meanwhile, the authorities had no clue who he was and where he was from. It made it hard for them because Chris didn’t bring along his identification (p.14) information because he wanted to get rid of everything he had.

Analysis: Chris was doing well during his journey but it didn’t turn out well. It’s sad how he died in two and a half weeks during his trip to Alaska. He didn’t get the chance to finish what he wanted to explore in Alaska. Chris was a young man, who wanted to accomplish his goal. Another sad thing is that Chris was all alone by himself without having anyone by himself. It's very sad because he didn't get the chance to say goodbye to his family or even the people he knows.

During Chris's graduation from Emory University in Atlanta. He was part of the editor of the school newspaper of the Emory wheel. Chris didn’t want any of the membership in Phi Beta Kappa and decided not to take the opportunity. During his two years in College (p.20) he was paid around four- thousand dollars. Chris had a plan that he would disappear after his graduation. Once Chris graduated, the money was supposed to be towards his law school, but it turns out that the parents have misread (p.20) him because Chris didn’t want to go to college anymore. He decided to give the money he had to charity. Walt and Billie wanted to get a car (p.21) for Chris but he had a car that he loves. He wouldn’t trade it for anything because he was strongly attached to it. Chris mentions that he would be more careful not to accept any gift from them. Chris showed up in the town, Westerberg had given Chris a job (p.18) because Chris was one of the hard workers that Weterberg that he met. Whenever it comes to Chris doing his work, he wouldn’t ever quit in the middle of something that he was doing. He did have a high standard of himself because he would want it to turn out how he wants it. Chris sent a brief note (p.21) he never says goodbye to his family, he only mentions his grade report of his transcript, which was the last words to his family. They wouldn’t ever hear from him. Chris was close to Billie but never said goodbye to her. His family tried going to his first apartment but never got the chance to see Chris again.

Analysis: It’s nice that Chris was able to go on road trips and meet new people, which Chris met Wayne during the town that he was at. Another thing that it’s nice is that Chris did something that he dreamed of doing. It’s sad Billie never got a chance to say goodbye to Chris because he left without saying anything. Billie and Chris were close.

While being there, he didn't see anyone for the last thirty- six days. During Chris' journey, he would often write in his journal (p.37) he decided to go to Los Angeles to get an ID and get a job. He had an impact on society and made a decision to return to the road again.

Analysis: During Chris’s journey he had a hard time along the way during his trip. I liked how Chris did his best to travel to places, he has been wanting to accomplish. It’s sad how Walt and Billie still haven’t seen Chris for a long time. Chris was close to dying from a heat stroke during his trip. During his trip, he met new people along the way.

Chris volunteered (pg.43) to oversee her large inventory for the use of paper books. He helped out by making a lot of sales. Chris had met people around him. At the Swap (pg.44) of the meeting talked to anyone that was near him. He was so friendly with each of them. He did a lot of socializing. During Chris’s trip going to Alaska, He accepted (pg.46 )Burres’s offer to drive him to Alaska. She was able to give him a few supplies that would be useful for Alaska and he got clothes that would keep him warm.

Analysis: It was nice that Chris was able to meet people along the way. It was interesting how Chris made a decision on getting a job at McDonald’s. His personality seems to be nice and caring towards people. Another thing I found interesting was how Chris is socialized.

Analysis: It’s so sweet that Franz wanted to adopt Chris as his own son. It’s sad how Franz found out that Chris died in Alaska. Another thing that it’s sad is that Franz went to the desert to drink some whiskey because he lost Chris. It’s nice how Chris and Franz spend a lot of time and have a good bond with each other. Chris was looking for a job to save some money for his trip to Alaska. Chris would send some postcards to the people he know. Franz becomes more attached to Chris so fast.

Alex mentions in the postcard that says into the wild, which it’s the title of the book.

Analysis: I could see that Alex would get along with people when first meeting them. It’s sad that Alex didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to everyone he knew. Alex would often go to the places he knew. This chapter, it mentions how Alex was and how he acted during his trip.

Analysis: In this chapter, it mentions other people which talks about their own experience. The names are Rosellini, Waterman, McCunn, and McCandles. They like being outdoor. In the chapter, it mentions that Waterman died while being at the Summit Denali. I could see that all of them have similarities toward them, which some of them could relate to each other. Some of their adventures are risky or even dangerous in their trip.

It mentions that Ruess was a romantic (p.92) like McCandless and equally heedless of personal safety. McCandless was embarking on his terminal odyssey. Ruess was adopted (p.93 )into a new name that he created for himself. He made it clear to his family that he would call himself Lan Rameau and be respectful of his decision. In the book, it mentions that Everett seems strange (p.96) and sleight concedes and is different but he and McCandless were following their dream and that’s something nice about them. They have drawn the cross that storm-racked (p.97) into the ocean which was the edge known to the world by nothing. The reading of these monks is a way that urges their desire.

Analysis: In this chapter, it mentions people just like Chris who have a dream and would want to achieve it. Many people don’t know how Evertee died during his journey. Many of them believe that he fell off a cliff or if he drowned in a river. While reading Evertee’s story it seems sad because he was very young and died during his journey. During Everett’s disappearance, his father shows that the boy was inspired to call himself Nemo.

There was a radio that was on, which Wayne listened to (p.100) to Paul Harvey about a kid who starved to death in Alaska. Westerberg started to phone Alaska, which the troops decided to take him seriously. The social security number turned (p.101) out to be a good idea because it was placed in McCandless ' permanent residence in Northern Virginia. The Alaska state troopers volunteer (p.100) to what he knew about Chris. The story was about a dead hiker who found paper across the country. Sam went (pg.100) to the Fairfax County police department to show a photograph of the hikers who had been faxed from Fairbank. He described how Chris looked.

Analysis: After reading this chapter it points out that there wasn’t any technology, which made it harder for them to identify someone and who they were. This case seems hard to solve because they didn't know who might. It’s sad that the family is going to find out that their son died from a starved to death in Alaska and never made it out alive. Westerberg did his best to try to tell the troopers that he knew Chris and finally the troops believed him.

It talks about how there was a whole (p.112) idea which was to lose ourselves into unknown territory. It was a certain sense that’s the way Chris lived his entire. Chris decided to go to his new car and spent the summer driving through the country, which his family (p.116) never got the chance to discover in this journey who would ultimately turn him and those who loved him into misunderstanding, Sorrow.

Analysis: Overall, it shows how Chris grew up and tells his stories. It was nice what Chris did, which was helping out people and giving them food. It gives off how Chris is towards people, which people liked Chris. It was sad when told his parents that he didn’t plan on going to college because it wasn’t something that he wanted to do but ended up going to college. It seems that Chris felt that wealth was something shameful. Chris believed that he would be unhappy with any parent, who had trouble with the whole idea of “parents”.

Chris was supposed to be leaving Fairbanks but he changed (p.124) his mind and decision to drive to Alaska. He vanished his family completely for two years. After Chris found out about his dad's first marriage, he chose to not confront the secret of his dark (p.123) knowledge of expressing his rage and being silent.

Analysis: It’s very shocking how Chris found out that his dad had two different lives and two different families, which it’s very rude of him keeping it a secret from his family. Chris was very mad because he couldn't stand his dad with the lies he had been holding in his life. It was very sad when Chris’s mother could sense Chris asking for help while being trapped in Alaska. I could see that she wanted to help Chris but she didn’t know where he was. This chapter talks about the reason why Chris wanted to leave home.

Analysis: If Chris took Buckley during his trip, he might not end up going to Alaska. This chapter talks about how Chris and his sister were super close but after his trip, they were close how they use to be. It was very sad because this chapter talks about everyone he was close with who found out that Chris passed away during his trip to Alaska. Carine has lost ten pounds which many people were worried about because she was becoming anorexic. Billie stopped eating too, she lost about eight pounds before her appetite could finally return.

He decided to climb into the car and depart for Alaska. He decided to go to the store and purchased a pair of stout aluminum curtain rods. He lashed rods together (p.138)to form a cross which was lashed to his backpack to the pole to extend to have it horizontally over the snow. In the mountain climbing, he made his way down. The rim was gradually thickened and about eighty (p.143)feet down while getting down, he looked until his neck ached and there wasn’t anything appearing. He started to feel anxious. He didn’t communicate with anyone in the world. He hadn't visited this part of the stuck ice cap he was at.

Analysis: The thing I found interesting was how he mentioned his life story similar to Chris' life and his journey he has been through in Alaska. One of the reasons why he discussed Chris was that he didn't want to die in Alaska. It was unplanned because Chris didn’t think that he was going to die in Alaska. It mentions that Jon went a hard path to reach the mountain in order to climb to the Devil’s thumb. The Devil’s thumb seems a dangerous place to go climbing because many people would get hurt or die there. It points out that many of them were trying to follow their dreams.

He talks about it has a similar affected on relationships with their fathers.

Analysis: Jon has been in the Devil’s thumb again and he was there for twenty days. Jon and McCandless have similarities to their father's relationship because McCandless’s dad wanted him to be a lawyer just like Jon’s father wanted him to be part of the medical field. They wanted them to be successful in life. Jon and Chris didn’t do the career that their father told them to do. Jon decided to go to Alaska to climb for the Devil’s thumb and just like Chris he went to Alaska because he loved traveling to different places.

In the wilderness surrounding (p.165) in the bus where Chris was living there. Chris mentioned that he was loose into the wild. He has spent nearly four months in the bush at all times. The decision to move his few possessions into the bus. McCandless had written a list of housekeeping chores. He had a good underline for the long term and he drew on more ambitious tasks, maps and repairing mess kit, and a network of hunting traits.

Analysis: In chapter 16 it mentions that Chris had a hard time during his journey. It was sad when Chris killed a moose and the meat ended up having maggots. He didn’t have a map during his trip which made it harder for him. Chris decided to wait patiently and wait. The river was very high because the ice had melted. Chris was a weak swimmer. He first crossed the river sixty-seven days earlier in the freezing temperature of April and it was icy. Chris seemed to be ready to go home.

The capable sags were in the middle of the river and the rolling fast has a long steel strand.

Analysis: I think that everything would have been different if he had only taken the map with him because he would be able to see where the lake goes and how he can pass through it. Without getting hurt. Jon and his team have worked together going to Alaska and saw what the bus looked like and followed where Chris went too. Jon mentioned that in his backpack he had a 1:63, 360- scale topographic map that represents a mile. If Chris had used the Canyon that the U.S has but he would be able to go back with the world. One of the men mentioned that Chris was living in a difficult land. Jon talked about how Chris demanded much of himself and more to the end he could deliver.

If Chris has created a conflagration large enough to attract the attention of passing airplanes or burn something a giant SOS into the muskeg. It mentions that Chris wouldn’t internationally burn down a forest because he wouldn’t even save his life.

Analysis: After reading this chapter it was very sad because he was all alone and he didn’t have anyone by himself. Chris had a hard time surviving in the wilderness because he didn’t have any food to eat, which made him weaker. Chris would have been alive if he only had a map or found a way to escape from the wilderness. It was sad when Chris gave up because he has known that he would die in Alaska, which I can’t imagine how he felt about that.

Analysis: It took thirty minutes for Walt and Billie to walk quietly around the decrepit vehicle. It was sad because Chris’s mother picked up Chris and said that it smelled like him. Another thing that seems sad was when Chris’s mother wasn’t able to see him alive. I feel bad for his family because they were in pain not knowing where he was the whole time, but once Chris’s parents saw where he was, they understood why he came to Alaska. Many people did admit to Chris what he was trying to do. Billie and Walt watched the roof of the bus remain visible among the stunted trees and a tiny white gleam, a wild green growing smaller and smaller than it was all gone.

Krakauer found out that there wasn't any record of people eating (¶.11) the seeds that Chris ate. Maybe the plate has toxins. The plant gets toxins when the time changes over time. Krakauer has been explaining what Chris hasn't done wasn’t easy (¶.20) to do in Alaska. Chris has been in Alaska for months if Chris hasn't eaten the seeds he could have survived during his trip. The article talks a bit about how the plant was the same for jack bean, which would permanently paralyze about 100,000 people in the 20th century.

Analysis: I could see that Krakauer wanted to provide more information about Chris’s death. Many people know about not eating seeds, but Chris didn’t know that he shouldn't eat the seeds which can be very toxic or dangerous for his health. I was surprised how Krakauer spent about 20 years searching for clues about McCandless. I can't imagine how Chris didn't know about any of this information about the plant he has been eating for way.

One of my first performances was in elementary school, where I sang a Christmas song. It gave me an opportunity because it showed me how passionate I am about music. Music has always been important to me because it gives me an opportunity to see what’s out there and do what I love doing. I would want people to see that music is very valuable throughout life. I would like to help others around me that are interested in music. I’m still debating whether I just want to be part of the music industry or be a music teacher in the future. I’m still not sure what the future holds for me but I know that I would definitely like to continue pursuing my dreams even if it becomes challenging. My odyssey is to be able to travel to places with my sisters in the future. I would like to be able to hike more often and experience new things along the way.

I would say that McCandless and I both have different life experiences and goals. When In College, I would like to take some classes for teaching because I would like to become a music teacher for some years. I would say that music has impacted around the world because there are many genres that people like listening to and one of the reasons why I would want to major in music is because music can help us to express how we feel and it helps to reduce stress. I hear that music has been scientifically proven to have a powerful effect on the brain and can also help in many aspects of the brain. I really hope someday I will be able to travel to many different places because it seems like a new experience to do.

You can tell that the author was interested in putting Christopher McCandless’s story out there in the world. In some chapters, I got mad at what Chris did and there was some time when he did something nice.

The Good: I would say that Chris has always been nice to everyone who was around him. It was nice what Chris did, which was helping out people and giving them food. Everybody liked having Chris because he seems like a nice guy to talk to. Chris has always wanted to travel around the world, which he wanted to achieve his goals and make them happen. Chris had everything but he decided to give it all away because Chris has always wanted to do everything on his own. Chris seems to happen on going on trips because he got the chance to make new friends and make new memories along the way. Chris was able to survive in Alaska for some months. Chris has always wanted to follow his dreams and he made it happen. Chris’s goal was to reach the greatest north into the wilderness in Alaska. Chris was in the wilderness for about 114 days. Chris wanted to disconnect from society. Chris would often go to different places during the summer.

The Bad: I would say that what Chris did was wrong for leaving his family behind without saying goodbye to them. It was kinda messed up when Chris didn’t want anyone to find out where he was going. He didn’t care about the consequences of the actions that would cost him and how bad they would affect the people around him. Chris wasn’t prepared for the trip to Alaska. He didn’t have any materials or supplies that would help him out during the trip. Whenever Chris met someone they would offer Chris some supplies or materials that would help him with his trip but he would often leave the supplies or materials behind because he didn't want to take them. Chris wouldn’t talk about how he was feeling or what was going on about his life. Whenever someone was close with Chris, he would disappear because he didn't want them to get attached. Chris didn't want to take the map because he wanted to do everything by himself. Chris left his sister behind which was messed up because they had always been close to each other.

I would say that I’m in the middle of the team Chris because there were times when Chris did nice things and there were sometimes many people who got hurt by Chris because he decided to disappear from everything he had. But, I would say that Chris wanted to follow his dream because it has been something he has been waiting to do. Chris wanted something different in his life, he wanted to challenge himself. Chris seemed super happy when he was heading to Alaska. There were many things that Chris should have done differently in his journey.
