Who:

--> Mr. Cunningham, this is the only person Scout had recognized
--> The mob was group of men(they weren't specific with names) they were presumably from Maycomb. They weren't that polite to Atticus.
Quote: "It was a summer’s night, but the men were dressed, most of them, in overalls and denim shirts buttoned up to the collars. I thought they must be cold-natured, as their sleeves were unrolled and buttoned at the cuffs. Some wore hats pulled firmly down over their ears. They were sullen-looking, sleepy-eyed men who seemed unused to late hours. I sought once more for a familiar fare. and at the center of the semi-circle I found one. “Hey, Mr. Cunningham”"(Lee 204).

Purpose of Mob: The Purpose of the Mob was to disturb Tom Robinson in Jail. Although what they were going to do was unknown Atticus had went to the jail to stop them from bothering Tom Robinson or fight with him. They had left because the children were there.
Quote: "Atticus stepped back and looked up. "They've gone," he said. "Get some sleep, Tom. They won't bother you any more""(Lee 206).
How they got there: They arrived in 4 cars and drove to Maycomb jail just like Atticus did. They had left using the same cars because Atticus and the kids stopped them.

Tensions revealed by the Scottsboro Trial

--> The Scottsboro case was about 9 boys accused of raping two white women, Victoria price and Ruby Bates, on a train to Paint Rock Alabama.
--> People tend to have prejudice towards black people and already had a picture in there minds thinking that black tended to always rape white women.
--> At first, no one even try to defend these nine boys
--> They had multiple trials and even when they were free they still lived a hard life(by either dying or getting in jail again)
--> The story of the Scotsboro boys shows that blacks in this time were always discriminated. EX: The jury in most of the trial were white showing prejudice towards black people.

Tension that exists in the town of Maycomb, and how they are rooted in history

--> In both the Maycomb mob and the Scottsboro trial prejudice between blacks and white existed they must of the time took a white man/women's word over a blacks no matter how bad the white person is
--> They both had the same time of case
--> The people are generally decent people but when it comes to this mob they have prejudice/racism in their mind(the usual sickness), it is the same thing with the whites in the trail, with the exception of some, the jury of whites or any white spectator of the case are most likely decent people but has an idea of racism taught in their minds
--> The idea that white people don't support other whites who "like" blacks lie Atticus and even Sam Leibowitz (at some points) were disliked by the white population.
--> Harper Lee is trying to bring/show how the history of discrimination can be brought back in her book and she uses the case to show this.
