Background checks for gun purchasers aren’t as appealing to this party.  They also aren’t very adamant about preventing people with mental illnesses from purchasing guns. They strongly believe in the nature of individual freedom and the right to own, carry, and use guns. The right, as stated in the Constitution, allows Americans to bear arms to protect themselves, their family, and their property. Therefore, they believe that they must uphold this fundamental principle. Additionally, they believe that gun ownership rights is an issue that individual states should decide.

They are concerned with protecting the lives of students and minorities, who are often the victims of gun violence. They believe in strengthening background checks for those who want to purchase a firearm. In addition, they want to raise the age to purchase rifles from 18 to 21. By doing so, they will ensure that guns don’t fall into the wrong hands who have a higher potential of inflicting danger onto others. Their main goal is to keep American communities safe, so that no one should be scared to attend a public places, including schools and shopping malls. The Democratic party also believes that gun control should be a federal issue.

They want to achieve the “security of the United States and all other nations of the world” by: 1. Negotiating arms control and disarmament treaties and 2. Creating strong relationships with other nations so that they will implement these treaties. Another issue that they want to solve is “the spread of WMD, delivery systems, and advanced conventional weapons capabilities”. This means that they want to stop the spread of arms that were manufactured to harm as many people as possible. We can use this information to create a theory of how they would view gun control. The ISN and AVC want to achieve security in the United States and they want to achieve this security through negotiation and reducing the spread of illegal and dangerous arms. If you use this information and apply it to gun control in just the United States we can infer their opinions and thoughts on gun control.

The first bill, titled HR 1808: Assault Weapons Ban of 2021, lies in accordance with these views, for it ensures that the consumer of a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) has a background check before the purchase is made. HR 127: Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act, which is the second bill, also falls in line with Biden’s Democratic ideals. This bill creates licensing requirements for the possession of a firearm. These restrictions include raising the minimum age, stronger background check, psychological evaluation, and a certified training course. Finally, HR 38: Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act allows for individuals to carry concealed firearms across state boundaries. This bill is primarily promoted by Republicans, therefore not following the president’s current views. Also, the bill does not combat gun crime. We agree with the current administration's views on the issue.
