When we were there, my group worked on washing boards and preparing them to be sanded.  The boards were repurposed from lots of bookshelves.  We were able to get all the dirt off of them so that the second group from out LC was able to sand them later that day.  The boards were going to be used to create a wall which could be used as a backdrop so that the organization could photograph products in front of them, which would help raise awareness and potentially make money the organization could use.]]> 2022-03-22 18:31:40 UTC https://padlet.com/freemad7/x76bwquqg648eud9/wish/2108175149 Summary seboldcd https://padlet.com/freemad7/x76bwquqg648eud9/wish/2108175211 Recently, our LC helped keep the Cincinnati community more sustainable and clean by taking a trip to Precious Plastic Cincy. We learned about reusing old materials to make new and innovative creations. Our first team of students worked with Cyrina to wash and cleans the old bookcases. They prepared the boards to be reused by the next group. The second group of students worked on sanding the boards until they were smooth and an aesthetically pleasing color. While some students worked on sanding the boards, others measured the wall and boards to prepare the to be cut down to size. Some of the things I learned from these experiences are the thought process that goes into creating new ideas and new projects. Some things that contribute to the success of Precious Plastic Cincy are those who volunteer to contribute their ideas and time. I can apply this learning because it showed a good idea of what it takes to be an industrial design or architecture major. At Precious Plastics Cincy, we learned how you incorporate sustainability within a studio space by reusing materials, taking parts from older projects and using them for new ones, etc. My experience at Precious Plastics Cincy is something I want to incorporate as a future industrial designer.
