1. Midnight Squeak: Be Calm, know that mistakes are okay! Practice at home to become better

2. We also learned about rests today. Even though we are not playing during rests, we still have to count the beats.
Remember our "Twins"?
Whole Twins: Whole note and Whole Rests are each worth 4 beats
Half Twins: Half Notes and Half Rests are each worth 2 beats
Quarter Twins: Quarter notes and Quarter Rests are worth 1 Beat

3. Octaves: It's very easy once you understand what octaves are. Look at the letters "OCT". It means "8". So an octave is the distance between let's say a C and the next C above or below. Pick any note to start. The distance between will always be 8.

4. Recital Piece: I know Mrs. Anna threw this piece at us last minute. But I want you to figure out just the right hand for this week. So Remember that we're in 4/4, so each measure will have 4 beats. Our smallest note value is 8th notes so our counting will be 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. And most importantly, remember your what the notes are in the lines and spaces.

Rhythm Mania: Memorized and played well, both hands with smooth rhythm.
Island Calypso: Work on keeping rhythms steady, material is memorized but needs practice to transition smoothly from phrase to phrase.
Sonatina in C Major mvt. 1 -sight read the entire second page, work on slowing down tempo so that they play more fluidly and transition with no breaks. Reinforce first page as well. Material is memorized, but lacks practice.

My Lady Eleanor's Lute - Great job refreshing your memory with this piece! Be careful as we approach the last two lines of the 1st page and the first line of the 2nd page. Both hands play the same melody so try not to hesitate when transitioning from the first page to the second page. If needed, review hands separately once or twice before playing hands together again.

Sonatina in C Major - Great job with completing this piece! However, continue to run through the piece hands separate before running through it hands together. The measures you have the most difficulty with you should practice the most.

Waltz of the Prince and Princess - Continue to work on this piece, and use the process that we used to learn the piece when rehearsing. Play two or for measures right hand only, and then left hand only. Review these hands separately, and then play hands together, Take it piece by piece like a puzzle.
