//My research focuses on contemporary environmental change processes related to climate change and human impacts on biogeochemical cycles and biophysical systems. As a result of a combination of natural and human-induced processes, climate change is occurring at unprecedented speed. Climate change as a global challenge requires a reliable global monitoring and forecasting system to deliver information that policy makers and business leaders can trust. Satellite remote sensing systems are now delivering operational observations from space that have revealed unknown features of Planet Earth.//

They are currently planning an exhibition in our building using the Arts Council Collection and working with environmental artist Rebecca Chesney (http://rebeccachesney.com). Rebecca works with environmental data to create artworks that reflect on climate change, nature, landscape, and so on. She is very grounded and systematic—often quite sciency and yet producing works that are very much art. She has done quite a bit of work on maps such as here: http://rebeccachesney.com/styled-35/  She is driven by environmental responsibility. She is very down-to-earth and very nice.
    The students are planning an event to go with the exhibition and thought it might be very interesting to compare the work of a very visual environmental scientist with an environmental artist, to consider how each contributes to how we respond to the environment and as part of that discussion to consider how environmental data are deployed. I’ve just been looking at your BIOMASS mission paper and see you have really beautiful images with great visual impact. 
    Anyway, at this stage, I just wanted to ask if you might be up for being involved in an event—it might be a conversation with images? If so, the students will be in contact with you and tell you what form the event will take and we can also put you in contact with Rebecca. Last year they did the event online as part of the Phoenix Art Centre events. It was a conversation between two artists who worked in film and was brilliant.'
